Children's Art Illuminates the Panasonic Pavilion at Expo 2025: Experience the Light Stories

Children Shine at the Panasonic Pavilion: A Glimpse into Their Creative World

The Panasonic Group Pavilion, titled "The Land of Nomo," at the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025 is set to showcase an extraordinary collection of light display artworks created by elementary school students from across Japan. This initiative, spearheaded by the educational platform miraii and Panasonic Holdings Corporation, invites visitors to witness how children's creativity transforms the pavilion into a mesmerizing experience.

Background of the Project

From July 25, 2025, students aged 6 to 12 were invited to submit their light art creations, and after an extensive selection process, numerous exceptional pieces were chosen for public display. Participants engaged in interactive online classes through "miraii Academia," where they learned fundamental skills in lighting design and storytelling. These sessions helped them translate their imaginative visions into stunning works of art that meld light and sound.

Learning and Creation Process

The creation of these light displays followed a structured journey:
1. Concept Development: Students brainstormed their themes, considering the meanings they wanted to convey through their artworks.
2. Story Crafting: Each participant devised original narratives that would form the backbone of their light shows, infusing their work with personal insights and creativity.
3. Designing Light and Sound: They then designed the interplay of lights and sounds, determining how each element would work together to bring their stories to life.
4. Final Production: The final works were then prepared to be showcased, culminating in a vibrant display across the pavilion’s approximately 70-meter facade.

The culmination of their efforts will be displayed during the evening hours, where the stories fabricated from these young creators' imaginations will be dynamically illuminated on the pavilion’s exterior.

Insights from miraii

According to Riuku Saito from miraii, having witnessed the transformation of these children's imaginative worlds into real-life experiences at the Expo is profoundly rewarding. This initiative transcends the mere act of creation—it represents a unique opportunity for children to connect with society and enhance their confidence in their creative skills. Saito hopes that this experience will empower each child to trust in their imagination and push forward into the future, taking their first steps toward fulfilling their potential.

Future Aspirations

Looking ahead, miraii aims to foster connections between children and society through creative expression, enabling diverse participation in similar projects. As they work to expand partnerships with corporations and local communities, they aspire to create various venues where children can explore their creativity and contribute to new cultural developments.
