STAR WARS™: The Experience. This exhibition is set to open its doors on
February 13, 2027, in conjunction with the celebration of the
50th anniversary of the iconic
Star Wars franchise.
During an exclusive panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the first exhibit renderings and key promotional art were revealed, sparking excitement among attendees. As the official exhibition developed in partnership with
Lucasfilm,
Disney Consumer Products, and
MDSX, this immersive experience aims to deepen fans' connection with the galaxy far, far away.
A Journey Through the Galaxy
Larry Dubinski, President and CEO of The Franklin Institute, expressed the honor of launching this groundbreaking exhibition in Philadelphia— a city known for its rich history of exploration and innovation. “Star Wars has inspired generations through imagination, innovation, and storytelling.” The upcoming exhibition invites fans to step into the Star Wars galaxy like never before, showcasing the creativity and passion that lie at the heart of the franchise.

Exhibit Highlights and Features
Upon entering the exhibition that spans
18,000 square feet, visitors will explore engaging galleries infused with state-of-the-art interactive elements. The exhibition will include:
- - Queen Amidala’s Throne Room: A spectacular area where guests will be surrounded by suspended fabric and projection, incorporating the artistic legacy of costume design in Star Wars, culminating in a display of Queen Amidala’s striking gowns.
- - Wireframe Worlds: An exploration of the early design concepts of Star Wars, guests will encounter wireframe sketches and design notes, gaining insights into the evolution of cinematic designs that have become legendary.
- - Carbon Freeze Capture: A chance for fans to experience a vivid representation of the classic scene where Han Solo is frozen in carbonite. This photo-ready display will feature interactive elements that invite participation.
- - The Force Connects Us: Using innovative RFID technology, each visitor's journey within the exhibition will become unique, impacted by their choices and interactions with the Force. Hidden moments and unfolding story aspects will lead to a personalized experience.
Additionally, an extraordinary collection of artifacts will be showcased, including screen-used items that have never been publicly displayed before, such as Darth Maul’s lightsaber and pieces from iconic characters and droids, enhancing the nostalgic connection for fans.
Celebration of 50 Years of Star Wars
As the exhibition nears its conclusion, there will be a special showcase featuring
50 years of Star Wars action figures, including rare prototypes and development materials, illustrating the evolution of collectibles alongside the saga’s history.
