Fintech Forward 2026 Concludes in Bahrain



The prestigious Fintech Forward 2026 (FF26), the main financial event in the Gulf region, has successfully wrapped up at the Exhibition World Bahrain. This year’s forum saw a record-breaking participation of over 2,900 attendees, which included local and international participants, along with more than 60 significant strategic agreements and memorandums of understanding signed.

The Success of FF26


The fourth edition of FF26 built upon the accomplishments of the previous year and has solidified its stature as a catalyst for economic outcomes. A remarkable 65% increase in announcements and agreements this year indicates FF26's growing impact on forging partnerships in financial services and technology sectors.

Under the banner of 'Finance in the Era of Smart Infrastructure', the forum attracted a diverse lineup of over 40 keynote speakers and international delegations, showcasing the robust commitment of the industry to innovate and collaborate.

Key Highlights and Announcements


A few notable developments from FF26 included a pilot project for Google Cloud Universal Ledger, introduced by Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait (BBK) in collaboration with ARRAY Innovation. This project delves into using advanced digital ledger technology within BBK’s core banking operations and opens avenues for tokenized payments and programmable settlements.

Another significant collaboration announced was between Beyon and barq Group, integrating Beyon Money’s services with barq’s fintech platform, with Beyon retaining an economic stake, subject to regulatory approval. Furthermore, BENEFIT unveiled that the National Bank of Bahrain (NBB) will be its first banking partner in the pilot initiative for the Trade Finance Registry, designed in association with MonetaGo, based in Singapore.

Bahrain FinTech Bay revealed its fourth Ecosystem Report (2024-2026), which evaluates the country's advancement towards regulated execution while highlighting opportunities in artificial intelligence, tokenization, and cross-border payment solutions.

Moreover, this year's FF26 marked the third iteration of the NBB Innovation Program in partnership with BFB. Beyon Connect further announced exciting plans for launching an AML Referral Program with AMAN Compliance Solutions, fostering access to specialized financial crime prevention and regulatory compliance expertise.

In a bid to enhance collaboration, Beyon Connect and BENEFIT signed an MoU to explore joint fintech opportunities on a local and global scale, focusing on digital identity, payments, credit services, and data analytics. The growing intersection of financial services with emerging technologies was also highlighted with the MoU signed between BENEFIT and Huawei, designed to explore digital infrastructure and advanced technologies.

Additionally, Kuwait Finance House – Bahrain signed a MoU with stc Bahrain to broaden their existing partnership, aiming to identify new collaboration avenues in digital solutions and integrated use cases, improving digital asset and trade finance management.

FF26 also set the stage for the unveiling of the Tech Talent Hub, representing industry giants like Citi, J.P. Morgan, and KPMG, which emphasizes the critical role of Bahraini talent in supporting global operations while showcasing essential skills and professional trajectories shaping the future of finance and technology.

The Future of Bahrain's Financial Ecosystem


Bahrain has cultivated a thriving financial services ecosystem over the decades, underpinned by progressive regulatory frameworks, advanced digital infrastructure, and a steadfast commitment to innovation. Financial and insurance activities continue to drive the Kingdom’s economy, constituting 17.6% of the real GDP in 2025, while the sector remains pivotal in stimulating economic growth and attracting investments. The strong regulatory environment, spearheaded by the Central Bank of Bahrain, paired with a skilled workforce and comprehensive digital infrastructure, bolsters the sector's ongoing success and future prospects.

Organized by the Bahrain Economic Development Board (EDB) and presented in collaboration with Forbes Middle East, FF26 received backing from significant institutions like the Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB), Labour Fund (Tamkeen), and Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). The event reaffirmed Bahrain’s position as a burgeoning hub for fintech innovation and collaboration driven by public-private partnerships.
