In a significant gathering that underlined the importance of collaborative innovation in the chemical and refinery industries, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (commonly known as Sinopec) hosted the second edition of its "Sinopec International Catalyst Customer Conference" in Tianjin on October 26, 2026. The event's theme, "Catalyzing Collaboration, Shaping a Smarter Future," showcased advancements in catalyst technology vital for improving efficiency and sustainability in refining and chemical production.

Sinopec's conference served as a platform for 69 customers and partners from 24 different countries, including international representatives from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Algeria, Brazil, Azerbaijan, and South Korea. The gathering was marked by the exchange of technical knowledge, real-world experiences, and the exploration of partnership opportunities within the refinery and chemical sectors. Its primary goal was to address the critical role that catalysts play in optimizing processes while minimizing environmental impact, notably in energy efficiency and CO₂ emissions reduction.

Sinopec has dedicated decades to research and development in catalysts, resulting in a robust portfolio that encompasses nearly 300 products across seven categories. These include major sectors such as refining, polyolefins, organic raw chemicals, coal chemicals, environmental protection, adsorption materials, additives, and oilfield chemicals. Such a diverse array of products supports a broad spectrum of applications within the industry, making them integral contributors to various industrial processes.

As a leader in the international catalyst market for over 20 years, Sinopec has successfully combined product offerings with comprehensive technical services, aiding clients across more than 40 countries and regions in Asia, Africa, Europe, and America. Recent years have seen a notable expansion, with the company exporting 14 different types of catalysts between 2021 and 2025—this included catalysts for processes such as propane dehydrogenation, xylene isomerization, and continuous catalytic reforming. The company also added new export destinations, such as Canada, the United Kingdom, and Argentina, expanding its global reach.

Sinopec's catalyst division has established close trade partnerships with over 30 countries participating in China's "Belt and Road Initiative," strengthening their footprint in international markets. The company's products not only enhance refinery processes but also contribute to elevating fuel quality, which supports the overall development of local refinery and chemical industries in partner countries.

This customer conference is part of Sinopec's ongoing efforts to intensify technical exchanges and align catalyst development with the evolving demands of industry. Looking forward, the company aims to continue innovating efficient catalysts that support sustainable production and to expand its global service network while collaborating with international partners to leverage technological advancements on a larger industrial scale.
