Celebrate Earth Day with Georgia Natural Gas: Free Electronics Recycling Event in Atlanta

Georgia Natural Gas® Presents Earth Day Electronics Recycling Event

As Earth Week approaches, Georgia Natural Gas (GNG), one of the leading natural gas providers in the state, is taking significant strides towards promoting environmental sustainability. On April 25, GNG invites residents of Atlanta to participate in a free electronics recycling event at Lenox Square, located at 3393 Peachtree Road NE. This initiative is part of GNG's ongoing commitment to responsible environmental stewardship.

This year marks the 16th anniversary of GNG's Earth Day celebration, and in that time, loyal customers have helped offset nearly one billion pounds of carbon dioxide equivalents (CO₂e) through the Greener Life carbon offset program. "Simple, everyday choices can have meaningful, long-term environmental impacts," said Mike Braswell, President and CEO of Georgia Natural Gas. "Whether making it easy for customers to reduce their carbon footprint or recycle electronics that are normally difficult to dispose of, Georgia Natural Gas is proud to make sustainable living more accessible for our community – on Earth Day and every day."

The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and community members are encouraged to bring various electronic devices for responsible recycling. Accepted items include cell phones, computers, monitors, televisions, printers, radios, and fax machines. All items will be processed by eWaste/ePlanet, a certified electronics recycling and data destruction provider equipped to handle materials in an environmentally responsible manner.

Maurice Baker, manager of community relations at GNG, emphasized the importance of such events: "We want to make it as easy as possible for our community to recycle electronics responsibly, no matter the item's age or condition. Events like this help keep harmful materials out of landfills while protecting our communities and the environment for future generations."

Attendees can also learn about how to enroll in the Greener Life program and participate in various giveaways, including a grand prize of a $1,000 Simon® gift card, redeemable at Lenox Square retailers and restaurants. Volunteers will be on-site to assist participants by removing items directly from vehicles, ensuring a smooth and convenient drop-off experience.

This event is not just a means to recycle old electronics but serves as a community engagement opportunity, allowing individuals to come together in support of a sustainable future. With growing concerns about electronic waste and its environmental implications, GNG's initiative is a timely reminder of the collective impact that responsible recycling and environmental consciousness can have on our planet.
