A Culinary Celebration: Sanriku Joban Food Festival 2026

In a delightful nod to the rich marine resources of the Sanriku Joban region, Ito-Yokado, under the leadership of President Tetsuya Yamamoto, will host the "Sanriku Joban Food Festival 2026" starting from March 7th to March 10th. This much-anticipated event takes place at 179 stores across the Tokyo metropolitan area, including Ito-Yokado, York Foods, York Mart, and York Price. The festival aligns with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry’s "Go Hiki! Sanriku Joban Campaign," which aims to promote the bountiful seafood of this area and broaden its consumer base.

Celebrating Local Seafood

The festival will feature twelve exquisite seafood products sourced directly from the Sanriku Joban region. Highlighting these offerings is the nutrient-rich Spring Wakame, known for its fresh flavor. Among the standout dishes is the Sanriku Oyster Rice Lunch Box, showcasing abundant, delicious oysters that thrive in the nutrient-rich waters of Miyagi Prefecture. Another treat includes the Gourmet Nigiri with Tohoku Toppings, which consists of rich and flavorful salmon from Aomori, providing a beautifully balanced culinary experience.

The Go Hiki! Sanriku Joban Campaign was launched in October 2022 to raise awareness of the area's incredible seafood and promote consumption. Ito-Yokado has a history of offering seafood products from this region, and through this collaboration, they strive to bring the unique flavors of the Sanriku Joban marine offerings to a larger audience.
