With a rich tapestry of industrial clusters, academic institutions, and a collaborative spirit across its eight municipalities, Durham aims to showcase how innovation is transforming the industrial landscape.
A Commitment to Innovation

He stated, "We are building a future that turns research and development into job creation and investment. Collaboration, along with a skilled workforce, is helping Durham tackle some of the world's most pressing challenges."

Simon Gill, Director of Economic Development and Tourism, noted that the cooperative environment in Durham supports innovation, success, and economic growth. This approach has proven beneficial in nurturing research partnerships and innovation-focused initiatives.
Highlighting Project Arrow
One of the standout initiatives that will be highlighted at HANNOVER MESSE is Project Arrow, a groundbreaking venture led by the Automotive Parts Manufacturers' Association (APMA). This marks the first entirely Canadian, zero-emission, connected concept vehicle, a project developed within the region. The innovative spirit of Durham shines bright through Project Arrow, which is engineered at Ontario Tech University's ACE Climatic Aerodynamic Wind Tunnel. Flavio Volpe, President of the APMA, remarked, "We are not just building cars; we are shaping the future of transportation through collaborative efforts."
A Hub for Talent
Durham Region boasts a unique advantage with its robust talent pool. Over 30,000 students attend post-secondary institutions such as Ontario Tech University, Durham College, and Trent University Durham GTA. These institutions play a critical role in driving innovation and supporting the local industry. Dr. Les Jacobs, Vice-President of Research and Innovation at Ontario Tech University, highlighted their mission: "We partner with global companies to give our students hands-on opportunities that solve real-world issues."
