Superdrug Partners with Hanshow for Digital Transformation in Retail
Superdrug Partners with Hanshow for Digital Transformation
Superdrug, one of the UK's leading health and beauty retailers, has made a significant move towards digitalization by teaming up with Hanshow, a global leader in digital retail solutions. This partnership aims to enhance operational efficiency and improve customer service across Superdrug's extensive network of stores in the UK and Ireland.
As retail environments evolve, particularly in sectors like health and beauty that are known for their intense promotional activity and rapid product turnover, Superdrug recognizes the importance of accurate pricing and timely promotional execution. These factors directly affect customer trust and profit margins. To address these challenges, the company has identified in-store digitalization as a pivotal strategy.
To implement this strategy, Superdrug is deploying Hanshow's Electronic Shelf Labels (ESL) as a standard feature on the shelves throughout its store network. This initiative began in 2025, with the first 51 stores already equipped with the technology. An additional 90 stores will see implementation throughout 2026, including new locations. Once fully operational, this program will encompass over 1.7 million ESL units across the UK and Ireland.
"For us, digital transformation means building a scalable and adaptable operational model," explained Jerry Walkling, Superdrug's Sales Operations Director. The integration of ESL technology is designed to enhance both the speed and accuracy of in-store execution, which in turn supports agile and reliable operations in physical retail environments.
Andrew Cobb, Superdrug's IT Director, added, "Establishing a digital foundation at the shelf edge is a critical component of our long-term technological roadmap. Partnering with Hanshow strengthens the infrastructure that supports our connectivity-based services, enabling greater flexibility and smoother, integrated in-store experiences at scale."
The significance of this partnership extends beyond immediate operational improvements. Liangyan Li, Senior Vice President and Global Sales Head at Hanshow, highlighted Superdrug's commitment to establishing a resilient store infrastructure. He stated, "Building a digital foundation at the shelf edge allows retailers to enhance operational accuracy now while creating the flexibility needed for future innovations."
Through this collaboration, Hanshow supports leading retailers like Superdrug in creating efficient, data-driven store environments, positioning them to thrive in an increasingly competitive market. The application of digital solutions not only streamlines current operations but also sets the stage for future growth and adaptability in the retail landscape.
With digitalization becoming a crucial factor in retail success, Superdrug's partnership with Hanshow serves as a strong example of how modern retailers can leverage technology to improve customer experiences and operational efficiencies. This initiative reflects a broader industry trend of embracing digital solutions to meet the evolving demands of consumers in the beauty and health sectors.
