Hour of AI Launches 100+ Engaging Activities for Students to Explore AI

The inaugural Hour of AI has been launched to inspire and empower students to engage with artificial intelligence (AI) through a diverse catalog of activities developed by Code.org, CSforALL, and over fifty leading organizations. This venture is a significant step towards ensuring that AI literacy is a foundational part of every student's education, particularly during the upcoming Computer Science Education Week from December 8-14, 2025.

Hadi Partovi, the CEO of Code.org, emphasizes the importance of active participation in this technological landscape. He states, "The next generation can't afford to be passive users of AI – they must be active shapers of it." This sentiment sets the tone for the Hour of AI, which offers students the chance to not just learn about AI, but to create, innovate, and problem-solve using it.

Among the impressive lineup of activities, participants can look forward to engaging projects such as:

1. Mix & Move with AI – This fun-filled activity allows students to use AI to design a dancer, mix music tracks, and choreograph dance routines. With minimal prior experience required, this activity encourages creativity while using AI prompts for inspiration.

2. Google's AI Quests – In this immersive experience, students will simulate challenges faced by AI researchers at Google. The AI Quests teach educational fundamentals about AI and its practical applications in overcoming real-world challenges, thus promoting active learning through gamification.

3. Minecraft Night Survival – Students work alongside AI agents to gather resources, craft tools, and build safe shelters before nightfall in this engaging Minecraft challenge. It presents a fun way to utilize coding skills and understand the importance of human oversight in AI tools.

4. Scratch Face Sensing Blocks – In this unique activity from the Scratch Foundation, students use facial recognition blocks to interact with projects. It combines creativity with critical thinking as they explore how AI can enhance user experience through predictive technology.

5. LEGO® Education’s Modeling Machine Learning – Students will construct and train LEGO animals, metaphorically paralleling the machine-learning processes in AI. This hands-on experience demystifies AI and machine learning models without needing technology, encouraging imaginative modeling and teaching.

The Hour of AI not only facilitates hands-on learning but cultivates an environment where students can question and create with the technologies that influence their world. Teachers, parents, and the wider edtech community are encouraged to participate, ensuring the initiative resonates throughout the year and reaches many learners.
