Remarkable Display of Shohei Ohtani's Life-Size Golden Statues Debuts in Kyoto

Exclusive Golden Showcase: Shohei Ohtani in Kyoto

From May 20 to 25, 2026, Kyoto Takashimaya will host a luxurious event, the "Great Golden Exhibition," organized by SGC, a prominent company specializing in the manufacturing and selling of gold products. The exhibition will mark the first appearance of life-size, solid gold statues of Major League Baseball star Shohei Ohtani that represent his dual-threat capabilities as both a pitcher and a batter.

The centerpiece of the exhibition will be the two statues: "Golden Batter Shohei Ohtani," standing approximately 1.9 meters tall, crafted with 1,550 sheets of gold leaf, and "Golden Pitcher Shohei Ohtani," reaching about 1.7 meters and made with 1,450 sheets of gold leaf. This rare opportunity allows fans to witness both figures side by side. The estimated prices are a remarkable 50 million yen (tax included: 55 million) for the batter statue and 50 million yen (tax included: 55 million) for the pitcher statue, summing up to an astounding 100 million yen (tax included: 110 million) for both. Notably, these values resonate with Ohtani's historic 2024 record of achieving 50 home runs and 50 steals in a single season, alongside consistently powering over 50 home runs in two consecutive seasons.

Additionally, SGC presents an exclusive "Shohei Ohtani Pure Gold Collection," which includes a special edition medal made of 100g of pure gold, featuring a diameter of approximately 5.4 cm. Two styles are available - one symbolizing his prowess as a batter and the other as a pitcher, each carrying a price tag of nearly 9.6 million yen. Several other exquisite pure gold figurines will be available in different scales, including:
  • - "K24 Batter Ohtani"
- 1/10 scale: 23,430,000 yen
- 1/20 scale: 6,820,000 yen
  • - "K24 Pitcher Ohtani"
- 1/10 scale: 23,430,000 yen
- 1/20 scale: 6,820,000 yen
  • - "K24 Two-Way Ohtani"
- 1/10 scale: 47,080,000 yen
- 1/20 scale: 13,860,000 yen
These prices reflect the current high demand for gold decor as the retail price for gold remains elevated. The exhibition is set to feature over 1,000 gold items, ranging from traditional Buddhist artifacts such as the "Golden Rin" crafted by a human national treasure to diverse exquisite gold and silver tableware that brings beauty to everyday life.

Attendees can also explore auspicious gold ornaments and rare collectibles to indulge their hobbies and enhance their celebrations. In light of the growing interest in gold, SGC has arranged for an on-site service allowing visitors to have their gold items evaluated and purchased in cash, supporting customers wanting to sell their hidden valuables. A free assessment service provided through X-ray analysis guarantees reliable evaluations, showcasing SGC's commitment to exceptional service.
