AEME GSE Unveils EcoTug Battery-Powered Ground Power Unit at Inter Airport Europe 2025
AEME GSE Introduces EcoTug at Inter Airport Europe 2025
On October 9, 2025, the major trade fair Inter Airport Europe 2025 concluded successfully in Munich, Germany. This influential event in the aviation and ground services sector witnessed key industry representatives come together. Among the notable highlights was AEME GSE's unveiling of the EcoTug, a cutting-edge mobile ground power unit (eGPU) powered by advanced battery technology.
As a significant player in the aviation ground support equipment (GSE) industry across the Asia-Pacific region, AEME GSE aims to harness its 20 years of rich experience to promote eco-friendly innovations in the airport sector.
Yu Zhao, Global Marketing Director of AEME GSE, expressed excitement about the growing demand for sustainable ground support equipment, emphasizing that their latest 400 Hz EcoTug represents the culmination of extensive R&D and steadfast supply chain consolidation. The EcoTug integrates industry-leading lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with sophisticated power electronics and control systems to meet the challenges posed by airports' transition towards green practices.
The demand for enhanced energy efficiency and cost-effective solutions is increasingly prompting airports to modernize their electrical infrastructure. To address rigorously the safety regulations associated with airport operations, the EcoTug is equipped with a comprehensive Battery Management System (BMS). This feature allows real-time monitoring, as well as automatic protection against fires at both battery and system levels, enabling flexible adaptability to various operational scenarios while ensuring paramount safety.
AEME GSE is recognized for its pioneering efforts within the industry. The company launched its first mobile GPU in 2017, entering the market with the S400 GPU just two years later, featuring low-voltage LVRTech™ technology which significantly improved energy stability at airports. As of now, AEME GSE's CE-certified products are operational in many key international aviation hubs, with over a thousand next-generation GPUs delivered worldwide.
In Yu Zhao's words, “The ecological transition is becoming a critical competitive advantage for airports. With extensive practical experience and ongoing innovation, AEME GSE is committed to enhancing the reliability, sustainability, and security of ground power systems. We will continue expanding global collaboration to drive advancements that enhance performance and reduce carbon emissions in airport ground operations.”
With the launch of the EcoTug, AEME GSE reinforces its commitment to leading the way in creating advanced, sustainable solutions that not only meet the current demands of the aviation industry but also pave the way for greener airport operations. This innovative approach aligns with global efforts to combat environmental challenges, ensuring that the aviation sector can operate sustainably while maintaining high safety standards.
