EWTN Recognized for Outstanding Contribution to Global Rosary Relay Initiative

EWTN Honored for Its Global Coverage of the Rosary Relay

In a significant recognition of its commitment to Catholic outreach, the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN) has been awarded the Sixteenth Annual Worldpriest Global Rosary Relay Award. This honor acknowledges EWTN's exceptional efforts in promoting the Global Rosary Relay, a prayer initiative that unites Catholics from around the world in their prayers for priests.

On December 8, 2025, at a ceremony held at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel in Irondale, Alabama, Peter Gagnon, President of EWTN Studios, received the award from James Diroff, Director of Worldpriest Inc. USA. The award was presented on behalf of Marion Mulhall, the founder of the Worldpriest Global Apostolate, in recognition of EWTN’s substantial contribution to this pivotal initiative. Gagnon expressed gratitude, stating, “It is a gift to receive this award for the work we do in partnership with Worldpriest on the Global Rosary Relay.”

Last year, EWTN played a crucial role by broadcasting the relay from various countries, including renowned locations where visions of Our Lady have occurred, such as the Lourdes Grotto and Walsingham in England. This annual event not only supports priests actively serving their communities but also encourages those discerning their vocation to the priesthood.

“I am humbled to support the Worldpriest prayer movement,” Gagnon added, thanking Marion Mulhall for the recognition. The award highlights the power of the Rosary in enhancing spiritual connections among clergy and laity alike.

Marion Mulhall elaborated on the mission of the Global Rosary Relay, emphasizing that the initiative, derived from the heartfelt inspiration of '20 Countries, 20 Mysteries,' aims to unite people across different cultures and ages in prayer. This powerful movement fulfills the desire for global prayer by advocating, “Pray the Rosary, unite with your country, and help encircle the world in prayer.”

Participants affirm the meaningful impact of the Global Rosary Relay on their lives. Melissa Nicholas Palikat from Malaysia remarked, “The Global Rosary Relay transforms sentiment into action. I know I should pray for priests – the Global Rosary Relay gives me a powerful way to actually do it.”

Mulhall expressed her joy in honoring EWTN's years of support, saying, “My heart is filled with joy as I congratulate Peter Gagnon and the entire EWTN team for receiving this prestigious award. It’s a great blessing to see EWTN’s exceptional talents being recognized.”
