A New Approach to Exhibiting Design
Unlike typical trade shows that require participants to pay for space, alter. offers an innovative format. Young creators, predominantly those under 35, can apply for funding of up to ¥3,000,000 for their projects. This format fosters collaboration between different creative fields, encouraging teams to assemble and present their ideas collectively. The committee evaluates not only the individual products but also how well they communicate a social narrative and experience design in their presentations.
Committee Members
The committee comprises distinguished figures, including:
- - Tanja Hwang (Curator at MoMA)
- - Olivier Zeitoun (Curator at Centre Pompidou)
- - Andrea Trimarchi & Simone Farresin (Design Studio, FormaFantasma)
- - Keisuke Nakamura (Architect, SKWAT)
- - Kristen de La Vallière (Creative Consultant, say hi to_)
Participants
Among the participating creators, there are artists, photographers, musicians, and engineers, each contributing their unique perspectives to the event. With a focus on narrative and social relevance, selecting and presenting their ideas will reflect a deep understanding of contemporary issues in design.
Programs to Engage Young Talent
A notable highlight will be the
education program in collaboration with
GAKU, a creative school in Shibuya, which aims to empower teenagers by redefining their relationship with design. This program will run alongside the event, creating a dynamic community atmosphere.
