Chiba's First EV Truck Launch Marks a Milestone Towards a Carbon-Neutral Society

Chiba's First EV Truck Launch Ceremony

In a significant step towards a sustainable future, Palsystem Chiba, based in Funabashi, held a launch ceremony for its first-ever electric vehicle (EV) truck on September 26. This event took place at the Matsudo Center in Matsudo City, marking the ninth EV truck introduced by Palsystem as part of its commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.

The newly introduced EV truck is manufactured by Isuzu Motors, known for its innovative designs and eco-friendly technology. The model, the ISUZU ELFmio, operates under regular driving licenses, making it accessible for a broader range of drivers. One of its standout features includes the Driver Abnormality Detection System (EDSS), which monitors the driver’s condition by assessing their facial expressions, ensuring a safer driving experience.

During the launch ceremony, representatives from Isuzu Motors provided an in-depth presentation of the truck’s capabilities. Palsystem has set a precedent in the cooperative industry as Palsystem Tokyo, situated in Shinjuku, is expected to introduce this model in October 2024. The ELFmio is particularly suited for deliveries in residential areas, boasting minimal vibrations and quiet operation, which are crucial for efficient service.

Palsystem Chiba's decision to adopt the ISUZU ELFmio also stems from successful trials of various other EV models within the Palsystem group. Palsystem Tokyo currently operates six EV trucks, while Palsystem Kanagawa has integrated two units of different models, accumulating data on their performance and reliability.
