A prominent physician with a wealth of experience in family medicine, Dr. Cummins has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to improving the healthcare landscape. His journey in medicine began with a Bachelor of Science in pre-medical technology, supplemented by a minor in chemistry from Delta State University. Following this, he pursued certification in medical technology at the Mississippi Baptist School of Medical Technology, where he honed his technical skills. Later, he earned his medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine, situated in the picturesque Netherlands-Antilles, and completed a residency in Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine. Notably, his rigorous medical training included experience within the British Health Service in Scotland, along with advanced combat medical training during his service as a physician in Bagram, Afghanistan.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Cummins has contributed to various healthcare settings, including clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, emergency rooms, and hospice care, as well as working closely with the local VA hospital. His current focus is on providing specialized treatment for patients suffering from knee issues, employing a variety of therapeutic injections and rehabilitation strategies. This pivot in his career is largely informed by his unique perspective as a combat physician and a service-connected disabled veteran of the U.S. Army.
Dr. Cummins holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division. His service in Afghanistan is not just a testament to his military commitment, but it also serves to enhance his work as a physician upon his return to civilian life.
