Kohler and Flamingo Estate Unveil a Sculptural Bathhouse at Milan Design Week

A Sanctuary of Nature and Craftsmanship at Milan Design Week

Kohler, in collaboration with Richard Christiansen, the founder of Flamingo Estate, unveiled the stunning Flamingo Estate Bathhouse during the Milan Design Week 2026. This immersive installation is not just a display but an experience, merging architecture, nature, and meditation into a cohesive artistic expression.

Located within the tranquil courtyard of the Padiglione d'Arte Contemporanea in Milan, the bathhouse emerges boldly in a brutalist style. It appears to organically sprout from a meadow adorned with seven types of wildflowers, emphasizing the harmonious blend of constructed form and living ecosystem. This 247-square-meter monolithic structure draws inspiration from the original bathhouse found in California’s Flamingo Estate and features a palette of weathered metals and elemental surfaces.

As visitors approach, they are greeted by awe-inspiring monumental stained glass windows crafted by Milanese artisan Samuele Dossena, which scatter light onto terracotta surfaces, enveloping the space in a serene ambiance augmented by the flickering candles from Flamingo Estate.
