Space One Returns to Seafood Show with Underwater Drones for Fishery Innovations

Space One to Showcase Underwater Drones at the Seafood Show

In a bid to bring underwater drone technology closer to the fisheries sector, Space One Co., Ltd. is set to exhibit at the 28th Japan International Seafood Show, taking place from August 19 to 21, 2026, at Tokyo Big Sight. This marks the company's first participation in the event since 2022.

The Evolution of Underwater Drones

The use of underwater drones has expanded beyond mere exploration. In various industries, including infrastructure inspection, ports, shipping, disaster prevention, and research, the demand for these devices has steadily grown. In the fisheries sector specifically, an increasing number of professionals are seeking innovative ways to monitor conditions in fish farms, fixed nets, underwater equipment, and the hulls of ships. This push for digitization, or DX, highlights the rising interest in utilizing underwater drones for visual monitoring and documentation.

What to Expect at the Seafood Show

Space One will be located in the East Hall 3, booth number C-75, where they will present live demonstrations of CHASING-branded underwater drones that are notable for their inclusion in the Fisheries Agency's technical catalog aimed at promoting smart technology in the industry. Visitors will have the opportunity to see these drones in action within a controlled aquarium environment, providing real-time visual feedback about the drones' maneuverability and operational features.

Key Demonstration Features

The live demonstrations will illustrate various applications of underwater drones, including:
  • - Monitoring Fish Farm Conditions - Ensuring optimal environments in aquaculture settings.
  • - Inspections for Damage or Debris - Checking for net damages or unwanted marine growth.
  • - Health Checks on Aquatic Life - Observing both living fish and any deceased specimens.
  • - Surveying Anchors or Underwater Structures - Evaluating critical components important for anchoring and mooring.
  • - Preliminary Inspections Before Diving Operations - Conducting surveys to identify issues prior to deployment of human divers.
  • - Recording and Sharing Inspection Footage - Compiling visual data for review and safety compliance.

While these drones cannot entirely replace diving operations, they serve as valuable tools for day-to-day inspections, preliminary surveys, and for identifying potential problem areas, thus allowing operational tasks to be refined as necessary.

In addition to CHASING models, Space One will also showcase underwater drones made by DeepTrekker from Canada, further expanding their offerings.

Personalized Consultation Available

Staffed by experts, Space One invites attendees to engage in discussions about operational strategies and practical uses of underwater drones in their specific contexts.

Questions like, "Can it be used in my fish farm?" or "How does it operate in areas with strong currents?" will be addressed, even if visitors are still undecided on specific implementation plans.

This three-day event is a unique opportunity to experience the drones firsthand, visualize their underwater movements, and directly discuss challenges with knowledgeable staff. All stakeholders in aquaculture, fisheries, and related industries are encouraged to visit Space One at booth C-75 in East Hall 3.
