Karsan Aims for Top 5 in Europe's Mobility Market with Innovative Electric Solutions
Karsan Eyes Leadership in European Mobility Market
Karsan, a prominent player in high-tech mobility solutions, reported an impressive 11% increase in its turnover, reaching 330 million Euros in 2025. Notably, sales of electric vehicles contributed significantly, generating 220 million Euros, with a remarkable 43% increase in exports, amounting to 197 million Euros. According to Karsan's CEO, Okan Baş, the company is positioning itself to break into the top five mobility brands in Europe. "We aim to enhance our growth trajectory by introducing autonomous public transportation services in 2026," Baş stated.
Expansion Strategy
Karsan has established its e-JEST and e-ATAK models as leaders in their respective segments within the European public transportation landscape. Turkey's export strength in electric minibuses and buses, accounting for 80% of sales to Europe from 2019 to 2025, positions Karsan favorably. The company is being strategic, eyeing not only the strengthening of its foothold in Spain and Poland but also an ambitious entry into northern European markets including the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Germany.
Karsan's planned organizational structuring will facilitate these expansions. In 2026, the company aims to grow its electric vehicle fleet in Europe by over 30%, increasing it to more than 2,800 units. Initiatives in autonomous mobility are also prioritized, with a focus on the 8-meter Autonomous e-ATAK and 6-meter Autonomous e-JEST.
Autonomous Mobility Goals
"Our aspiration is to transition to fully driverless operations by 2026, starting in Stavanger by the third quarter. To this end, we are working on the necessary technological advancements that will allow us to eliminate the presence of a safety driver," noted Okan Baş. By the end of 2026, Karsan also plans to include an additional electric vehicle in its product lineup, further bolstering its market presence and technological capabilities.
Embodying the vision of being "One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility," Karsan is not only expanding its market presence but also playing a vital role in transforming global public transport. The company has deployed over 2,100 electric vehicles across 27 countries, reflecting its commitment to sustainable transportation.
Financial Perspective
The company's financial results are indicative of its robust growth strategy. Karsan's electrification plan yielded a 37% increase in its electric vehicle turnover, reaching 67% of the company's total revenue. This was complemented by a substantial uptick in export turnover, which surged by 43% over the previous year, signaling strong demand for Karsan's innovative products.
As it endeavors to secure a position in the competitive European market landscape, Karsan's strategy focuses on both leveraging existing strengths and pursuing new growth opportunities. The interplay of enhanced technology, strategic market entry, and a dedicated electric vehicle rollout is central to Karsan's ambitious roadmap for the future.
In summary, Karsan's vision for the future of mobility intertwines with sustainability and innovation, propelling the company toward its goal of becoming a leading force in Europe’s next-generation public transportation sector. As it navigates this exciting phase, Karsan remains committed to making electric and autonomous public transport a reality, setting sights firmly on growth beyond national borders.
