Suma Beach's Universal Beach Experience: 10 Years of Inclusion
This summer, Suma Universal Beach Project (Suma UBP) celebrates the 10th anniversary of Japan's first beach mat installation at Suma Beach, promoting a universal beach experience for everyone irrespective of their physical conditions. From July 9th to August 23rd, the beach will be barrier-free, with services including beach mat installation and aquatic wheelchairs, enabling safe ocean access for individuals with disabilities.
A Decade of Joy and Inclusion
The initiative, which began in 2017, has welcomed around 5,000 visitors, including families, children, and senior citizens, allowing them to enjoy the beach together. The efforts throughout the years have been bolstered by support from local volunteers, the government, and corporate sponsors, embedding Universal Beach into Suma's summer culture. This commitment to inclusivity aims to provide smiles and seaside experiences for all.
As we embark on this 10th year, we eagerly await many more participants to enjoy a delightful beach day at Suma, where the waves and a warm community spirit await.

Note: Please fill out one entry for each person with a disability. For groups of more than five, contact our representative, Mr. Sumada, for arrangements.
This year, funding from the Nippon Foundation helps us assess the universal beach experience, and we kindly ask for your cooperation with follow-up surveys to enhance our program in the future.
Important Details for Participants
To alleviate congestion at the shower facilities and ensure a pleasant environment for everyone, shower access will now be managed by time slots. Please change into your swimwear before arriving, but if that's not possible, outdoor tents are available for changing. We recommend arriving a bit earlier to accommodate for registration.
Shower access will begin 1 hour after your scheduled swimming time. For example, if you reserve swimming from 10:00 AM, your shower slot will be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM. Be advised that late arrivals may reduce your swimming or shower time. Limited shower facilities are available outdoors if needed, especially during peak times with multiple groups.
Group Registrations (5 or More)
