ION Partners with ATHLOS for Historic Women's Track Event in NYC 2025
ATHLOS and ION Team Up for a Groundbreaking Event
ATHLOS has proudly announced its new partnership with ION, a top-rated television network, to serve as the domestic linear broadcast partner for the highly anticipated Athlos NYC 2025 event. Scheduled to take place on October 10, 2025, at the iconic Icahn Stadium, this competition marks a significant milestone as it is the first-ever women's-only track and field event of its kind.
As part of this exciting collaboration with Scripps Sports, ION will not only broadcast the live event but will also feature a pre-show entitled "Icons on ION" before the main broadcast kicks off at 7 PM ET. This innovative broadcasting approach aims to elevate the visibility of women's athletics, aligning perfectly with ION's commitment to supporting women's sports, which includes exclusive coverage of leagues such as the WNBA and NWSL.
"We are thrilled to have ION as our broadcast partner for Athlos NYC," stated Alexis Ohanian, Founder of Seven Seven Six and ATHLOS. Ohanian added, "Their long-standing support for women's sports resonates deeply with our mission, and we are excited to showcase our event alongside their prestigious programming."
The Athlos NYC event is set to feature a standout roster of elite athletes, including Faith Kipyegon, Keely Hodgkinson, and Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, competing in various track events. Meanwhile, field competitions will bring together top talents like Tara Davis-Woodhall and Jasmine Moore, adding even more excitement to the day. It's important to note that this will be ATHLOS's inaugural field competition, with qualifying rounds slated for Times Square just a day before the main event on October 9, 2025.
"ATHLOS displays exceptional athletes while fostering culture and community," commented Brian Lawlor, president of Scripps Sports. "We are eager to bring ATHLOS and its exciting events to sports fans across the nation, committing to promote women's athletics in top-tier, live settings through ION."
In addition to the Athlos NYC, ION’s fall programming will include the inaugural SI Women's Games, an all-star competition showcased over six days and featuring elite athletes from seven different sports, in partnership with Sports Illustrated. Furthermore, ION will host the Elevance Health Women's Fort Myers Tip-Off, a premier college basketball tournament highlighting top-tier women's talents.
ION, accessible to over 128 million homes across pay TV, connected TV, and free streaming platforms, aims to reach wider audiences as ATHLOS also commits to an online streaming presence via platforms like X and YouTube during the event. Additional streaming options will be announced soon, ensuring maximum accessibility for fans around the globe.
ATHLOS is not just a track event; it serves as a powerful invitation for all to engage and challenge conventional boundaries, showcasing the remarkable talents of women in athletics. By merging competitive spirit with entertainment, the event seeks to redefine the viewing experience, allowing fans to celebrate their support for women's sports in exciting new ways.
