Connecting Students with Local Companies
In an effort to bridge the gap between local businesses and students who have moved away from Hamamatsu for their studies, a joint lunch networking event will be held in Tokyo on June 27th and Kyoto on July 4th. This initiative, hosted by nine local organizations, marks the third consecutive year of the event aimed at enticing students back to Hamamatsu for their careers.
Background of the Event
Over recent years, a noticeable trend has emerged where students from Shizuoka Prefecture, particularly those who attended universities in the Kanto and Kansai regions, tend to secure jobs in the areas they have moved to, resulting in a decline in U-turn employment back to their hometowns. This phenomenon poses a significant challenge for local businesses as well, as there is often insufficient information available regarding working conditions and lifestyle opportunities in Hamamatsu.
Purpose of the Event
The primary goal of these networking sessions is to offer students a firsthand experience of the diverse industries and career paths available in Hamamatsu. By effectively communicating the benefits of working in their hometown directly to students, the event seeks to promote U-turn employment and invigorate the local economy.
Features of the Event
Scheduled as a buffet-style gathering, the event will provide a relaxed atmosphere where students can freely discuss their career aspirations and address any concerns they may have regarding job hunting. Notably, a new participant this year is 'HUNGRY CREATORSHOW’z,' managed by local company, Harukado, which will showcase Hamamatsu's unique ingredients in its catering.
By selecting sophisticated venues that local enterprises operate in Tokyo, the event encourages attendees to discover new facets of local businesses and offers a sensory experience that highlights the appeal of working in their home region. This initiative is designed not only to support students but also to foster community ties through interactions centered around local food, spaces, and people.
