Local Revitalization Ambassador: Yuchin's New Journey in Yamagata City

In a remarkable turn of events, Yuchin, the comedic personality from the duo Sugorokuningen, has been appointed as a local revitalization ambassador for Yamagata City in Gifu Prefecture. The announcement came during a ceremony held on October 1, 2025, where Yuchin expressed his eagerness to utilize his unique skills in entertainment to promote the charm of Yamagata City.

This initiative is part of a collaborative project between Pony Canyon, headquartered in Minato-ku, Tokyo, and Ogaki Kyoritsu Bank, focusing on city promotion for Yamagata beginning in the 2024 fiscal year. Building on the strength of each partner, the project seeks to highlight various local initiatives through innovative publicity strategies.

During the inauguration, Yuchin took center stage, reading an oath, followed by the formal handover of his appointment, presented by the city's mayor, Hiroyuki Hayashi. Showing off his talents, Yuchin surprised attendees with a captivating Cube Art performance, recreating the mayor's likeness using 400 small cube-style puzzles. This display astonished everyone in attendance, proving his flair for entertainment.

In a light-hearted moment, following a request to showcase another performance, Yuchin executed an astounding feat known as Rubber Glove Breaking, where he burst a glove covering his face using only his breath within ten seconds. The audience erupted in laughter and applause, marking a successful debut performance as Yamagata City's local ambassador.

Mayor Hayashi emphasized the importance of Yuchin's role in conveying the message about Yamagata City to a broader audience: "I hope Yuchin uses his talents to showcase the beauty and uniqueness of our city to people beyond our borders." His words underscored the significance of using modern platforms, especially social media, to create engaging content that resonates with audiences both locally and internationally.

About Yuchin

Yuchin made his debut in 2005 as part of the Nagoya NSC 21st generation and has since become a staple in the Nagoya live scene, performing mainly in the Tokai region. Known for his comedic timing and creativity, he incorporates his skills in street performance and impersonations into his acts. Besides his work with Sugorokuningen, Yuchin also collaborates with the Mikanza street performance unit.

Beginning in October 2025, Yuchin will officially serve as a resident comedian for Gifu Prefecture and will kick off his responsibilities as part of the local revitalization project in Yamagata City.
