World Hemophilia Day 2025: Advocating for Women's Health and Care Accessibility
World Hemophilia Day 2025: A Call to Action for Women's Health
On April 17, 2025, the global bleeding disorders community will unite under the theme "Access for all: Women and girls bleed too" for World Hemophilia Day. This significant event aims to highlight the unique challenges faced by women and girls with bleeding disorders, who are often underdiagnosed and underserved.
The World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH) emphasizes a vital shift in focus towards recognizing women and girls not just as carriers of hemophilia, but as individuals facing unique health challenges. Historically, their experiences have been minimized, and this year’s theme aims to rectify that by bringing their struggles to the forefront. By prioritizing diagnosis and treatment for these women, the community can create a stronger foundation for all individuals living with bleeding disorders.
Cesar Garrido, President of the WFH, stated, “Recognizing women and girls with bleeding disorders is a significant milestone for our community. It is time to fully embrace and acknowledge their experiences and struggles.
