The Dallas Opera's 2025-2026 Season Announced
The Dallas Opera has officially unveiled an exciting lineup for its 2025-2026 season, showcasing a blend of classic operatic masterpieces and groundbreaking new productions. Taking place at the Winspear Opera House in the heart of Dallas's arts district, this season promises to captivate audiences and celebrate important anniversaries in the world of opera.
Celebrating Carmen's 150th Anniversary
One of the highlights of this season is the premiere of a new production of
Carmen, featuring a recreation of the original staging from the Opéra-Comique in Paris, where the operatic classic first debuted 150 years ago. This production aims to faithfully reproduce the sets and costumes reminiscent of 1875, offering audiences a unique glimpse into the historical context of Bizet’s pivotal work. Performance dates are set for October 17, 19, 22, 25, and 26, 2025.
Dialogues of the Carmelites: A Tragic Tale
The Dallas Opera will also feature the emotional and thought-provoking
Dialogues of the Carmelites by Francis Poulenc. This poignant opera, focusing on the martyrdom of a group of nuns during the French Revolution, will mark its Dallas premiere with performances on November 7, 9, 12, and 15, 2025. The tragic narrative and haunting score promise to provide a powerful experience for attendees.
A Literary Journey with The Little Prince
In a first for the company, The Dallas Opera is thrilled to present the adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic tale,
The Little Prince, composed by Rachel Portman. Set for performances on February 6, 8, 11, and 14, 2026, this production marks the company’s inaugural performance of an opera by a female composer, highlighting TDO’s commitment to diversity in the operatic landscape.
The Dark Majesty of Don Carlo
Concluding the season is Verdi’s
Don Carlo. This new production, sung in Italian, will hark back to its roots with a four-act structure. Having not been seen in Dallas for over thirty years, this masterpiece will be performed on February 27, and March 1, 4, and 7, 2026, promising a riveting end to an exceptional season.
Special Events and Celebrations
Alongside these main productions, the 2025-2026 season will feature several signature events, including the
Robert E. and Jean Ann Titus Family Recital with acclaimed soprano
Erin Morley and two family-friendly operas:
The Little Prince and
The Three Little Pigs. Additionally, the
National Vocal Competition will return, providing a platform for emerging talents. This season also marks the tenth anniversary of the
Hart Institute for Women Conductors, promoting women’s roles in the world of conducting.
