Partnership for Clean Hydrogen Project
Verdagy, a pioneering company in the clean hydrogen electrolysis sector, has announced a strategic partnership with
Black & Veatch, a renowned global engineering firm. This collaboration is focused on the
Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) for a major clean hydrogen production facility located near the Gulf Coast of Texas.
This facility is set to produce over 9,000 tons of clean hydrogen annually, powered by a robust 60-megawatt (MW) capacity. The completion of the FEED is anticipated by May 2025, with a Final Investment Decision (FID) planned for July 2025.
Rahul Bammi, president of Verdagy, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing its potential economic impact. He stated, "We’re excited to leverage Black & Veatch’s extensive experience in this FEED study. This project is projected to inject over $150 million into Texas’s economy, elevate U.S. energy exports, generate American jobs, and lead to the inception of future projects exceeding one gigawatt in capacity."
Black & Veatch has a proven track record in executing projects and developing infrastructure for natural gas storage, processing, and liquefaction, making them an ideal fit for Verdagy’s needs.
Anand Pattani, the Vice President and General Manager of Energy Majors at Black & Veatch, highlighted their extensive capabilities in designing and constructing hydrogen electrolysis projects across North America. He mentioned, "We are eager to bring our expertise into this venture with Verdagy, which not only supports U.S. energy industry development but also boosts the country’s energy exports."
One of the standout features of the project is the utilization of Verdagy’s state-of-the-art
eDynamic® electrolyzers. These electrolyzers are known for their industry-leading dynamic operational range, allowing them to adjust to real-time energy fluctuations from the ERCOT grid. This adaptability enhances grid resilience while maximizing hydrogen production, aligning with the Renewable Fuel for Non-Basket Offering (RFNBO) standards to meet the European RED III regulations as well as the Department of the Treasury’s requirements in the U.S.
All Verdagy electrolyzers are designed and manufactured in the United States, contributing to job creation throughout the national supply chain. Verdagy has also set up a hydrogen production plant and an R&D complex in
Moss Landing, California, where it continues to innovate and improve its technologies.
In conclusion, this partnership between Verdagy and Black & Veatch marks a significant step forward in the clean hydrogen landscape, promising not just a substantial boost to the local economy but also laying the groundwork for a sustainable energy future.
