Special Exhibition 'Tokyo Gendai 58 Minutes'
Starting from September 13 to September 16, 2025, a unique exhibition titled
'Tokyo Gendai 58 Minutes' will take place at
Gallery & Bakery Tokyo 8 Minutes. This event coincides with the internationally renowned contemporary art fair,
Tokyo Gendai, which will be held at
PACIFICO Yokohama from September 12 to 14. The exhibition is organized by three prestigious art galleries:
Tomioka Yoshitomo Gallery,
Taka Ishii Gallery, and
KOSAKU KANECHIKA in collaboration with
The Chain Museum.
The title '58 Minutes' symbolizes the travel time from the main venue of Tokyo Gendai to the art gallery. This unique exhibition marks the first joint group exhibition of the three renowned galleries, showcasing works selected by each gallery from their artists.

About the Galleries and Featured Artists
Tomioka Yoshitomo Gallery
Established in
1996, this gallery has been dedicated to promoting contemporary Japanese art through participation in international art fairs. Taka Ishii Gallery

1994, Taka Ishii Gallery has focused primarily on photography while also curating exhibitions for a variety of media from domestic and international artists. They continually explore new spaces and ideas, most recently extending their reach beyond their primary location in Roppongi.
Artist
Oka Hiroto, born in
2000 in Osaka, graduated from
Kyoto University of Art and Design in 2023. He explores abstract painting incorporating collage techniques, aiming to express his preoccupations with identity and perception in his work. His vibrant canvases create a visual dialogue between contrasting colors and elements, engaging viewers both emotionally and intellectually.
KOSAKU KANECHIKA
This gallery, established in
2017, is a leading advocate for contemporary art in Japan. It features a robust lineup of both domestic and international artists, fostering innovative and unconventional works.
An artist of note is
Asanaga Hiroto, born in
1997 in Saga, who captures fleeting moments of perception in his paintings. His academic background in painting from
Musashino Art University informs his approach, leading to vibrant, dynamic works that evoke a sense of movement and interaction with the audience.
