The Regal Taste of Scotch Whiskey at Tokyo Station Hotel Celebrating Queen Elizabeth

Experience Royal Scotch Whiskey at Tokyo Station Hotel

Located at the emblematic Tokyo Station, the Tokyo Station Hotel stands as a cultural treasure, embodying over a century of history. On April 18, 2026, the hotel is poised to launch an exceptional whiskey event series titled "Gathering Oak: A Taste of Whiskey."

This inaugural event coincides with the centenary year of Queen Elizabeth II and pays homage to the Scotch whiskey brands favored by the British royal family. Patrons will explore the rich legacy of these spirits and their connection to Scottish distilleries awarded the prestigious Royal Warrant.

As guests gather at the sophisticated Bar Oak, renowned for its selection of spirits from around the globe, the curatorial journey begins. Attendees will embark on an exclusive tour of the hotel, visiting historically significant sites that evoke the establishment’s storied past. The event will feature whiskey writer Arisa Umakoshi, who will delve into the intricate narratives surrounding the distilleries, royal heritage, and cultural impacts of whiskey. Her insights promise to elevate the tasting experience, enriching visitors’ understanding and appreciation of every sip.

The day's itinerary includes:
  • - 14:00 Doors Open
  • - 14:10 Hotel Tour
  • - 14:40 Whiskey Tasting & Seminar (including pairing food)
  • - 15:40 Event Conclusion

For ¥13,200, guests will enjoy a carefully curated selection of six different Scotch whiskeys, each with a story deeply intertwined with the British monarchy:

1. Royal Salute 21 Year Old Signature Blend - A tribute to Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation, this blended whiskey incorporates over 21 years of maturation.
2. Dewar's 25 Year Old - Bestowed with a Royal Warrant from Queen Victoria in 1893, Dewar's remains a symbol of royal endorsement and quality.
3. Royal Black Label 18 Year Old - The first single malt whiskey ever awarded the 'Royal' title, recognized for its unique finish in rare sherry casks.
4. Johnnie Walker 18 Year Old - A time-honored blend with roots in royal tradition, showcasing an intricate balance of flavors from various distilleries.
5. Royal Lochnagar 12 Year Old - Known as the go-to whiskey for the royal family during their highland retreats, this brand has a royal endorsement dating back to Queen Victoria.
6. Secret Tasting - An exclusive whiskey, revealed during the event, will add an element of surprise for the participants.

Alongside the whiskey tastings, a selection of carefully chosen food pairings will enhance the flavors, creating a fine dining sensation amid elegant surroundings that echo centuries of craftsmanship.

Additionally, from April 1 to May 31, select whiskeys from the event will be available for tasting at Bar Oak, allowing participants to further indulge in the whiskey world and its royal connections.

The subsequent sessions in the series will explore themes such as Japanese whiskey journeys, the history of whiskey on the railroads, and the spirit's literary associations. Each theme promises unique insights and thrilling experiences for whiskey enthusiasts.
