Lathrop GPM Expands Real Estate Practice and Welcomes New Leaders
On January 22, 2025, Lathrop GPM announced a significant development in its organizational structure, launching an expanded Real Estate Practice Group while also appointing new leaders within its practices. This expansion comes as a result of the successful merger with Hopkins Carley in 2024, a strategic move intended to bolster Lathrop GPM's position in the legal landscape both nationally and regionally.
The newly appointed head of the Real Estate Practice Group,
Jennifer Johnson, is recognized as one of Silicon Valley's leading commercial real estate attorneys. With extensive experience in both domestic and international real estate, Johnson has built a reputation for assisting Fortune 100 and 500 companies, alongside various developers and investors, through complicated real estate transactions. Under her guidance, the Real Estate Practice Group will consist of nearly 50 attorneys, who will provide comprehensive legal services to meet the diverse needs of clients including acquisition and disposition of properties, leasing, development projects, and more.
In tandem with the announcements,
Monique Jewett-Brewster has been appointed to lead the Financial Services Practice Group, making her the first African American to take on a leadership role within Lathrop GPM. Jewett-Brewster brings over 20 years of expertise in insolvency law, covering areas like commercial loans and bankruptcy cases across the nation. Beyond her legal acumen, she is notably an advocate for diversity and inclusion within the profession. Her previous involvements include pivotal roles in organizations that promote equal representation for minority attorneys and a position as Chair of the Diversity Outreach Committee for the California Lawyers Association.
Cameron Garrison, the Managing Partner at Lathrop GPM, expressed enthusiasm for the new appointments, stating, *"This is more than just an integration of two firms; it marks a new era of growth and innovation for us. The talent and legacy that Jennifer and Monique bring will significantly enhance our service offerings and client relationships."
Both Johnson and Jewett-Brewster's appointments underline Lathrop GPM's firm commitment to prioritizing client needs while fostering an inclusive work environment. Garrison affirmed that this transition is just the commencement of their long-term strategic vision aimed at elevating their practice and addressing the evolving requirements of their clientele.
