The Unique Outdoor Festival: CLAYTOPIA 2026
This June, immerse yourself in a one-of-a-kind festival celebrating the beauty and versatility of clay at
CLAYTOPIA. Organized by the
Clay Science Research Institute, this event will take place on
June 7, 2026, at the
Canoe Slalom Center near Kasai Rinkai Park in Tokyo.
A Sensory Exploration of Clay
CLAYTOPIA invites you to engage your five senses as you delve into the natural elements of clay known for its multitude of uses.
Montmorillonite, a clay type celebrated for its historical significance and beneficial properties, will be central to this year’s festival. Often lauded for its skincare benefits, this natural clay was famously adored by Cleopatra and is known to improve skin texture while being environmentally friendly. It is capable of absorbing impurities from water, contributing positively to the ecosystem.
Festival Highlights
- - DJ Floor: Dance in a pristine, all-white space filled with Montmorillonite while enjoying live DJ performances. Experience the sensation of clay through a unique clay yoga session, indulge in edible clay food art, explore various clay art displays, and participate in informative talks on clay. Don’t forget to check out the ethical clay products and organic food stalls at the market!
- - Marketplace: Explore an extensive marketplace featuring a range of clay brands and imaginative clay-themed art pieces.
- - Art Sessions: Artists are invited to participate in a Clay Art Session, where they will create spontaneously using clay materials provided during the festival and compete for prizes based on visitor votes.
The Festival’s Ethos
While many festivals celebrate natural elements such as water, fire, and forest, CLAYTOPIA is a pioneering event focused on clay, a natural material known for its ability to purify water and improve environmental conditions. The festival aims not only to entertain but also to educate attendees about the regenerative potential of clay.
Unlike traditional eco-awareness campaigns, CLAYTOPIA offers a fun, engaging atmosphere allowing participants to feel the hope for a better planet through enjoyment and artistry. It seeks to inspire attendees to reflect on sustainable relationships with our environment, making it a truly unique experience.
