A Step Forward in Preventing Customer Harassment: Event Overview
As the deadline approaches for mandatory measures against customer harassment in 2026, Tree Inc., led by President Yoshimura Enko, is set to launch a significant initiative aimed at connecting individuals and communities. On September 20, 2026, a participatory event will take place at the Hotel Grand Hill Ichigaya, gathering 100 participants to contemplate actionable steps they can take to foster a safer environment.
Background of the Project
Starting from October 1, 2026, it will be obligatory for business owners to implement measures to prevent customer harassment. This regulation emerges from the need to address the burdens on employees, including mental strain and turnover rates, which can result from such harassment. A dual approach is vital: creating a supportive structure to protect workers and preemptively avoiding conflicts through improved daily communication. Tree’s project embodies the belief that books can connect people and catalyze positive societal change. By translating insights gained from literature into practical actions, the goal is to create a society where everyone can work and live without fear.
Uniting 100 Voices into One Tree of Safety
During the interactive segment of the event, participants will articulate their commitment to building a safer society by writing down actionable steps on leaf-shaped cards, which will be affixed to a mural representing a tree. Ideas such as 'listening to others until they finish speaking' and 'taking a breath when emotions run high' will be shared, fostering an environment of mutual understanding and awareness of diverse perspectives. The culmination of the event will feature a ceremony introducing the heartfelt messages on the cards and will involve the placement of the final card. Yoshimura Enko will express her commitment to the project’s future, celebrating the collective effort and capturing memorable photographs with attendees.
Insights from Experts on Preventing Customer Harassment
The event will also showcase discussions featuring authors, editors, and professionals from various sectors—including Yoshimura Enko, the author of the new book
Understanding Customer Harassment through Manga—speaking alongside mental health professionals, corporate coaches, and educational leaders. They will explore preventive strategies against customer harassment and the essential communication conducive to fostering safe interactions between individuals.
Spreading the Vision Nationwide
The completed Tree mural will serve as a emblematic representation of the project, set to inspire talks, training sessions, and seminars across the nation in collaboration with businesses, municipalities, educational institutions, and financial organizations. This event marks the beginning of a movement to connect participants' intentions with actions that promote a safe and secure society, expanding the influence of Tree Inc.’s message across diverse communities.
