Satair Enhances Global Aircraft Services Through Unical Acquisition
Satair, a subsidiary of Airbus, is thrilled to announce the successful acquisition of Unical Aviation Inc. and its subsidiary, ecube. This strategic move solidifies Satair's position as a leading player in the global market for Used Serviceable Material (USM) and enhances its capability to provide comprehensive aircraft lifecycle solutions.
The merger aims to create a one-stop shop for aviation components and services, combining Unical's vast inventory and distribution network with ecube's top-tier disassembly and storage abilities. This integration will undoubtedly enrich Satair's existing USM expertise, which has been bolstered by its prior partnership with VAS Aero Services. As part of the new leadership structure, Sharon Green, the current CEO of Unical, will also take the reins at VAS Aero Services, ensuring a unified approach across all of Satair’s USM operations. In tandem, Tommy Hughes will focus on his full-time responsibilities as Chief Commercial Officer at Satair.
Richard Stoddart, Satair's CEO and Head of Airbus Material Services, remarked on this acquisition as a monumental step forward in leveraging the circular economy to enhance service for customers. He emphasized that the integration is not merely about expansion but also about improving the availability of crucial aircraft parts and simplifying the process to manage the entire lifecycle of an aircraft.
"We're not just expanding our footprint; we’re integrating valuable resources within the USM market. This means our customers will benefit from improved parts availability, streamlined processes, and enhanced support," Stoddart added. This view resonates with Sharon Green, who expressed enthusiasm about the synergies that will arise from the acquisition. "Joining Satair marks a new chapter for both Unical and ecube, aligning our extensive experience in USM and end-of-life procedures with Satair's broad reach and Airbus's forward-looking vision for the material services sector. We are committed to deliver exceptional value to our customers and are already eager to begin collaborating with our new colleagues at VAS Aero Services."
This acquisition also facilitates Satair's goal to industrialize the USM lifecycle, as the combined operational sites of Unical and ecube across North America and Europe significantly expand their industrial capabilities. This strategic move is poised to enhance Satair's service offerings, enabling seamless material flow from aircraft storage and disassembly to technical repair management and worldwide distribution.
As Satair works towards integrating these operations, the focus remains on providing an exceptional and interconnected experience for their customers. By building a strong alliance among Satair, Unical, ecube, and VAS Aero Services, they aim to ensure that clients worldwide have access to a truly comprehensive aircraft lifecycle service. The integration process will encompass coordinated efforts across all business units, signaling a robust approach to improving material availability and bolstering asset longevity.
Satair’s commitment to advancing its capabilities through this acquisition signals a significant development in the aviation sector, where the emphasis on efficient lifecycle management and sustainability is increasingly paramount. Customers can expect a substantial transformation in the quality and accessibility of services provided, marking a promising future in the realm of aircraft operations and management.
