Get Ready for the Smile Festa 2026

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Japan Animal Welfare Association (JAWA) is set to host its first major event, the "Forever Together! Smile Festa - Connecting the Future through Encounters and Learning," from November 22 to 23, 2026. Taking place at the TFT Hall 500 in Tokyo's Ariake, this event aims to promote a society where humans and animals can live happily together.

This participatory event will offer a variety of exciting programs that educate attendees about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership through engaging activities.

Event Highlights

The festival will feature several interesting attractions:

• - Pet Adoption Fair: Each day, three organizations will present adoptable dogs and cats, creating a platform for bringing animals and visitors together. This opportunity will also raise awareness of the status of rescue animals and the importance of animal welfare.

• - Family Musical Stage by Myumaru: A fun-filled musical performance that combines music and education will allow kids and parents to learn about the bonds between humans and animals.

• - Talk Show by Jin Katagiri: As a devoted pet owner of two rescue dogs, Katagiri will share heartwarming stories of his pets and engage in discussions with actual rescue organizations.

• - Disaster Preparedness Workshop: With pet safety becoming a growing concern, this workshop will address essential preparedness measures and evacuation tips for pet owners during disasters. The popular NHK character, Chiko-chan, will also make a special appearance to ensure both adults and children learn vital life-saving skills.

• - Large-Scale Experience Content - "Wan-Nyan Life Sugoroku by Petline": Petline Corp. will participate as a special sponsor, presenting an interactive game that emphasizes the importance of preparing for senior pets. Participants will traverse a giant board (9m x 7m) and learn about their pets’ health and care from the time of adoption through their golden years.

Moreover, a special talk show titled "Preparing for Senior Pets - To Stay Together with Our Loved Ones" will take place on November 22, featuring puzzle creator Ryo Tamamura and veterinarian Chie Mogi, who will provide insights and tips for enjoying a long life with beloved pets.
