Container Culture Museum Hosts Engaging Summer Event for Kids in Tokyo

Container Culture Museum Summer Event 2025

The Container Culture Museum, located in Shinagawa, Tokyo, opened its doors to young visitors for a delightful summer event on August 7th and 8th, 2025. This initiative, brought to life by the Toyo Seikan Group, aimed to both celebrate the allure of familiar everyday containers and to instill the importance of sustainability when dealing with waste. This event marked its 11th year in succession, attracting a total of 212 visitors over the two-day period.

Exciting Workshop Activities

SDGs Workshop

One of the highlights of the event included an engaging workshop under the theme “Unraveling the Mysteries of Container Circulation!”. Participants—both children and their guardians—learned about the pressing issues surrounding the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while exploring the significance of recycling containers. This collaborative experience not only made sustainability fun but also educational.

Creative Crafting Experience

The crafting corner was a hub of creativity where kids could make their own unique items. They designed and created their own “Glass Bottle Domes” by filling glass bottles with sponges, mimicking snow globes, or transformed caps into decorative magnets. Each individual design echoed the personal touch and imagination of its creator, showcasing their artistic flair.

Cardboard Creations and Photo Spots

Participants enjoyed creating whimsical cardboard hats themed around ice cream, dubbed the “Ice Monster”, along with designated photo spots featuring ice cream cone designs. Families and friends took turns striking fun poses, embodying the charming ice cream characters, while the “Mini Monster” mini-creation station attracted many smiles and excitement.

Cap Art Collaboration

At the event, attendees collaborated on a vibrant mosaic art piece made entirely from PET bottle caps. This year’s masterpiece featured a creative “Watermelon Splitting” design, adorned with 2,500 caps, symbolizing the event’s theme of recycling and community involvement.

Museum Quiz Rally

To further engage the attendees, a quiz rally was organized within the museum, challenging them to answer questions relating to container innovations and recycling strategies based on the museum’s exhibits. Correct answers earned participants clear file prizes, enhancing the fun and educational aspect of their visit.
