Blue Moon Metals Sets Ambitious 2026 Drilling Agenda for Core Projects
Blue Moon Metals Inc. is excited to announce a strategic update regarding its extensive drilling activities planned for 2026. This initiative will involve approximately 40,000 meters of drilling, including both underground and surface projects across its four key assets in the United States and Norway. A significant component of this plan includes the exploration at the notable Springer Tungsten Mine, aimed at bolstering the company's geological evaluation and project progression.
The Vice President of Exploration, Theodore Veligrakis, commented on this proactive approach, emphasizing that their drilling strategy highlights the diverse range of commodities within Blue Moon's portfolio. This ambitious program would not only advance tungsten mining efforts but also continue to progress the company’s copper projects in both Norway and the Western U.S. The year 2026 is anticipated to be a landmark period for Blue Moon, marking the largest drilling initiative in the company’s history, as well as the most intensive attention the assets have seen in several decades.
Details of the Drilling Strategy
Nussir Project
At the Nussir Copper-Gold-Silver Project in Norway, the company plans to implement a targeted infill drilling program that will focus on the eastern segment of the identified mineral resource. This segment will encompass approximately 3,000 meters of surface drilling designed to achieve a systematic drill spacing of about 75 meters on each side. Additionally, 7,000 meters of underground drilling is set to explore deeper areas of mineralization rich in copper. The team's contractor, Leonhard Nilsen & Sønner AS, has already made significant progress in developing the underground exploration decline, advancing 1,125 meters to date.
Blue Moon Polymetallic Project
Meanwhile, the ongoing 16,000 meters drilling initiative at the Blue Moon Polymetallic Project in Mariposa County, California, aims to mold existing drill coverage into a tighter grid with a spacing of around 50 by 50 meters. This program is expected to play a crucial role in the potential conversion of inferred mineral resources to a higher classification, setting the stage for deeper studies in the following year.
Drilling activities are currently underway from the underground exploration decline, where another 8,000 meters of drilling will target central and upper zones of the volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit. The plan also includes downhole geophysical surveys to reveal further mineralization opportunities and fresh exploration targets, especially in the northwest area.
NSG Project Drilling
At the NSG Copper-Zinc VMS Project, a detailed review of historic drill cores is shaping the plans for a staged underground drilling program totaling approximately 10,000 meters. The aim is to infill and expand the inferred resource of 9.23 million tonnes grading 1.19% copper and 0.31% zinc. The initial phase begins with extending the existing Rupsi tunnel to facilitate better access for drilling.
Springer Tungsten Mine Resource Evaluation
The extensive work program planned for the Springer Tungsten Mine aims to systematically parse through existing historical data to refine geological interpretations and guide subsequent drilling activities. Should initial assessments yield positive results, up to 5,000 meters of resource evaluation drilling will follow, emphasizing the identification of higher-grade scheelite skarn mineralization. There’s also a commitment to evaluate further mineralized horizons.
Blue Moon Metals is making tremendous strides in reinforcing its mineral exploration capabilities through this extensive drilling program, demonstrating a firm commitment to evaluating and developing its diverse portfolio of assets. The company is positioned favorably in the critical metals landscape due to its focus on zinc, copper, and tungsten, which are vital to both global economies and national security.
