Grand Opening of Palazzo Molteni in Minami Aoyama, Tokyo
Alfredo Japan, the corporate home of Molteni&C in Tokyo, has just inaugurated the new flagship store, Palazzo Molteni Tokyo, located in the chic district of Minami Aoyama. This opening marks a significant milestone in the global expansion of the Molteni brand, embodying its sophisticated lifestyle and innovative design philosophy.
The architectural vision of Palazzo Molteni is conceived by Vincent Van Duysen, the brand’s Creative Director and renowned architect. The building’s striking sculptural form integrates various elements of Japanese culture and aesthetics, delivering an architectural expression that aligns perfectly with Molteni's design ethos. The store features an impressive layout that comprises four levels, including a basement and three above ground, covering over 1,000 square meters.
Unique Architectural Features
The exterior of Palazzo Molteni exhibits a remarkable strength through its thick walls, measuring 50 cm, complemented by 43 uniformly designed windows. This interplay creates a dynamic façade that constantly evolves, reminiscent of a finely sculpted stone. Each angle offers a different visual statement, merging modernist ideals with a timeless elegance.
Vincent Van Duysen has highlighted the experience of living through the building's design, crafting an ambiance that reflects both the soul of the Molteni brand and the nature of living spaces. The balance of solid walls and open spaces, along with terraces, enhances the profound impact of the structure, making it an iconic landmark in Tokyo.
Interior Design and Layout
The interior spaces have been meticulously designed to encapsulate the lifestyle that Molteni&C represents. The ground floor welcomes visitors with an elegant and warm atmosphere, where the living and dining areas blend seamlessly, promoting a sense of flow that liberates the space.
