WiCON2025: Empowering Technical Talent
The WiCON2025 contest, organized by a partnership of key academic and industry leaders, has completed its selection process for teams participating in this innovative technology competition. After an enthusiastic response from across Japan, 20 out of 41 submitted teams have been chosen to engage in technology validation projects.
Announcement of Selected Teams
Led by Hiroyuki Morikawa, Professor at the University of Tokyo, and other notable figures, the WiCON committee has provided crucial funding of 1 million yen to each selected team. This support will enable these teams to pursue technical experiments over the next nine months. The official WiCON website lists the selected teams, showcasing their innovative ambitions.
Understanding the Application Process
WiCON offers two primary application categories:
- - Wireless Utilization Sector: Teams compete by proposing solutions addressing local issues through existing wireless devices, systems, or novel applications and services.
- - Wireless Basic Technology Sector: This sector focuses on validating new ideas in wireless technologies and systems for efficient radio wave utilization.
From the initial 41 teams, a notable 36 applications were made under the Wireless Utilization Sector and only 5 in the Basic Technology sector. Ultimately, the final selection process led to the participation of 20 teams, with 16 from the Utilization sector and 4 from the Basic technology sector.
