Kirtland Credit Union's Generous Support for Military Families with $5,000 Donation

Kirtland Credit Union Reinforces Support for Military Families with Generous Donation

Kirtland Credit Union, deeply rooted in serving the military community, has recently made a significant contribution of $5,000 to the Fisher House Foundation. This donation marks an important step in continuing their support for military families, particularly those facing challenging times while their loved ones receive medical care.

Located within the Raymond G. Murphy VA Health Care System in Albuquerque, Fisher House provides free lodging to families of veterans and service members who are undergoing medical treatment. Since its inception, the facility has provided a home away from home for over 1,000 families, allowing them to stay close during difficult periods, where the emotional support of family can make a world of difference.

Matt Rarden, the CEO of Kirtland Credit Union, emphasizes the cooperative's mission, stating, "Our roots run deep in the military community. We were founded to serve those who serve, and this donation reflects our ongoing commitment to support the heroic men and women who have sacrificed for our nation. When a loved one is hospitalized, proximity is crucial, and we are proud to facilitate this by easing the burden of accommodation costs."

The contributed funds are specifically earmarked to assist with operational costs, ensuring that the Fisher House can continue its critical operations without putting additional financial strain on visiting families. Carlos Velasquez, the Manager of Fisher House Albuquerque, expressed his gratitude, saying, "We are incredibly grateful for Kirtland Credit Union's support. Their generosity enables us to continue offering a safe and supportive environment for families focusing on healing together. This donation is a strong reminder that the community stands with veterans not just during their service, but also long after."

This year marks the sixth anniversary of Fisher House Albuquerque, which is the only facility of its kind in New Mexico. Families are welcomed to stay at no charge for the duration that their loved one requires treatment, providing them with comfort and stability during uncertain times.

Kirtland Credit Union, established in 1958, has a longstanding commitment to helping its members live with confidence through innovative financial solutions and personalized service. With assets exceeding $1.1 billion and a membership base of over 52,000, KCU proudly supports New Mexico and maintains a strong connection to both military personnel and civilians associated with Kirtland Air Force Base.
