Celebrating Excellence: Susan Lipp Named NAMM Female Entrepreneur of the Year

Susan Lipp: A Trailblazer in the Music Industry

On January 22, 2026, Full Compass Systems proudly announced that its Chairman, Susan Lipp, has been awarded the prestigious title of NAMM Female Entrepreneur of the Year. This honor will be presented at the 2026 She Rocks Awards during the NAMM Show in Anaheim, California, showcasing the incredible contributions of women in the music industry. Supported by the Women’s International Music Network, the She Rocks Awards celebrate outstanding women who have significantly impacted both music and music products industries.

Susan Lipp's journey with Full Compass Systems began in 1978, shortly after the company's founding by her husband, Jonathan Lipp. With her rich background in professional theatre, she brought invaluable expertise in audience engagement, sales, and community involvement. Her guidance and vision have been instrumental in shaping Full Compass into one of Wisconsin's largest woman-owned businesses today.

Throughout her career, Lipp has demonstrated unwavering commitment to promoting arts, music education, and community engagement. Her philosophy is that philanthropy should be at the heart of success, not just an afterthought. This dedication is clear from her founding of the Wisconsin Community Theatre Association, which laid the groundwork for her many years of cultural leadership.

Currently, Susan Lipp actively serves on nine boards, including the Wisconsin Arts Board and Madison Opera, and has been in board leadership roles for over 26 years. Notably, she played an essential role at the University of Wisconsin School of Music, advocating for the reinstatement of the jazz degree program and assisting in securing its initial $1 million in philanthropic support. Her influence and leadership extend beyond Wisconsin, as she has been a passionate advocate for music education in Washington, D.C., through the NAMM Foundation, where she served on the Board of Directors.

Her tenure on the NAMM Board commenced at a time when the organization had celebrated 110 years, making her one of the first three women in its history to hold that position. Later, she became the first woman to join the NAMM Foundation Board, all while steadfastly championing music education policies nationwide.

In her acceptance statement, Lipp expressed gratitude for her journey in the music industry, emphasizing her belief that “everything I've done has been driven by relationships and giving back.” This recognition not only honors her achievements but also reflects the collective efforts of those who have collaborated with her toward shared goals.

The She Rocks Awards will take place on January 23, 2026, at the Hilton Anaheim. At this prestigious event, Susan Lipp will join a remarkable group of honorees, including acclaimed artists and influential industry leaders, all celebrated for their contributions to the music world.
