PM Award 2026: Celebrating Project Management Excellence in Japan



The PM Award, an initiative aimed at recognizing exceptional projects rooted in Japan, is embarking on its sixth edition this year with the PM Award 2026. Established by the Project Management Institute Japan Chapter, this award celebrates innovative project management practices across various sectors, encouraging organizations to highlight their achievements in addressing social challenges and fostering community development.

Key Details of PM Award 2026


  • - Application Period: From March 3, 2026, to May 29, 2026.
  • - Eligible Projects: Any entity engaged in project-based initiatives in Japan is invited to participate, including corporations, NGOs, local governments, and community groups, regardless of industry or sector. Collaborative projects involving multiple organizations are also welcome.
  • - Categories:
- (i) Small & Medium Sector
- (ii) Large Sector

Selection Process


The selection committee will evaluate the submitted applications, and selected finalists will have the opportunity to present their projects. The audience will then vote to determine the Grand Prize and Excellence Award winners based on these presentations.

About PM Award


The PM Award is a significant institution designed to highlight superior projects led by organizations and companies situated in Japan. With over 300 branches and more than 700,000 members worldwide, as facilitated by the Project Management Institute, Inc., the Japanese chapter actively promotes project management methodologies and helps organizations realize their project-oriented potential.

The award program aims to achieve four primary visions:

Last Year’s Highlights


In the previous edition, the PM Award 2025, the Grand Prize in the Small & Medium category was awarded to the project en.to, which focuses on fostering connections between communities and people through a continuous exchange hub. The Large category went to the Tokyo Science University, formed through the integration of Tokyo Medical and Dental University and Tokyo Institute of Technology.

The PMI Japan Chapter
