Japan Battery Company Launches Energy Storage Facility
Japan's Battery Company, headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, announced the commencement of operations at its newly developed energy storage station located in Ouchi Town, Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, on October 10, 2023. The facility marks a significant milestone as its first energy storage system in the Kyushu region.
The newly established NC Karatsu City Ouchi Town Energy Storage Facility boasts a rated output of 1,988 kW and a capacity of 8,146 kWh, primarily utilizing lithium-ion battery technology. This system not only facilitates the effective utilization of renewable energy resources but also plays a crucial role in adjusting power supply and demand. According to a recently signed disaster response agreement with Karatsu City, the facility will extend community support by providing external electrical outlets during emergencies, thereby enhancing disaster resilience and ensuring continuity of public services. The design and construction of the energy storage facility was undertaken by Kraftia Inc. (formerly known as Kyudenko), based in Chuo-ku, Fukuoka City. The energy storage systems were equipped with devices manufactured by Daihen Inc., headquartered in Yodogawa-ku, Osaka City. This collaboration marks significant progress in integrating new energy solutions within local infrastructures.
