CHINT Showcases Smart and Sustainable Energy Solutions at Africa Energy Forum 2026

CHINT's Commitment to Africa's Energetic Future

CHINT made headlines at the Africa Energy Forum (AEF) 2026 held in Cape Town, South Africa, demonstrating its dedication to advancing energy solutions on the continent. The company showcased a variety of smart and sustainable energy solutions under the theme "Intelligent, Sustainable, and Affordable Energy Solutions for Africa's Industrial Leap."

During the event, CHINT presented its cutting-edge 1000 kV power transformer alongside a 24 kV SF₆-free switchgear module, highlighting its technological prowess in energy transport and sustainable infrastructure. The company emphasized the critical importance of reliable and effective energy infrastructures in facilitating industrial development and enhancing grid resilience, while also contributing to decarbonization goals.

Integrated Energy Solutions for an Evolving Sector

CHINT's offerings included comprehensive solutions covering the transportation and distribution of electricity, renewable energy production, and energy storage. These innovations reflect the company's commitment to providing scalable technologies that assist utilities, industries, and project developers in meeting increasing electricity demand while aligning with sustainability objectives.

Smart Grid Solutions for Reliability

At the forum, CHINT introduced its smart grid solutions specifically designed to strengthen power transmission and distribution networks. Such innovations promote the integration of renewable energy sources, aid industrial facility development, and support network upgrading projects. Many African power networks face challenges stemming from outdated infrastructure and rising electricity demands, making CHINT's smart solutions vital for improving operational efficiency and modernizing electrical grids.

Addressing Aging Transformers

In many regions across Africa, numerous distribution and power transformers have surpassed their operational lifespans, leading to frequent outages and rising maintenance costs. Traditional mineral oil transformers pose risks such as leaks and fire hazards, as the oil has a flash point of around 150°C. Furthermore, many distribution transformers are inadequately sized to handle the increasing loads from industrial energy recovery and rooftop solar installations.

CHINT offers an innovative alternative through its natural ester-based transformers, boasting over 95% biodegradability. With a flash point exceeding 300°C, these transformers significantly reduce fire risks and eliminate the need for additional fire protection systems. They generate 98% lower carbon emissions over their lifecycle compared to conventional mineral oil devices. Already, CHINT's ester-based insulating oil transformers have been successfully deployed in regions including Europe, Australia, North America, and Latin America, alongside intelligent RMUs in Algeria, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, and Namibia.

A Strong Commitment to Africa's Energy Future

According to Thomas Cheng, General Manager of CHINT for Western Asia and Africa, "Africa's industrial future will rely on robust partnerships and reliable energy solutions. At CHINT, we are proud to contribute to this transformation. By merging innovation, technology, and local engagement, we support industrial growth, empower communities, and strengthen Africa's energy future."

Through their participation in the Africa Energy Forum 2026, CHINT has solidified its role as a key player in advancing Africa's energy landscape and fostering sustainable industrial growth across the continent.
