VinFast Launches All-Electric Bus Line in the U.S. for Sustainable Mobility
VinFast's Bold Step into U.S. Electric Bus Market
VinFast, the rapidly emerging Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially unveiled its intentions to penetrate the U.S. market with a comprehensive lineup of all-electric buses. This announcement was made at the highly anticipated APTA 2026 TRANSform EXPO held in Chicago, marking a significant milestone in the company's strategy of promoting sustainable mobility.
The company has entered a key partnership with NexMove, a joint venture formed between Transportation Management Services and Zeem Solutions. This collaboration is aimed at delivering VinFast’s cutting-edge electric buses to U.S. customers as part of an all-inclusive service model. With the rollout anticipated to begin in the first quarter of 2028, the excitement among urban transit agencies and fleet operators is palpable.
Robert Hill, Vice President of E-Bus Sales at VinFast US, took to the stage at the event, detailing the innovative features of the electric buses that set them apart in terms of safety, efficiency, and connectivity. These vehicles come equipped with state-of-the-art driver assistance systems utilizing advanced radar and camera technology for real-time safety notifications. In addition, capabilities for seamless communication among passengers and staff reflect VinFast's commitment to enhancing the overall travel experience.
One of the standout aspects of the NexMove service model is its comprehensive nature, which bundles electric buses with charging, maintenance, and operational services into a streamlined contract. This ensures that transit operators experience a smooth transition to electric bus fleets, while NexMove promises a 97% uptime service level escalation.
Demonstration Units and Future Plans
As part of this strategic initiative, NexMove plans to showcase demonstration units of VinFast’s electric buses at Zeem's electric vehicle charging depots. These buses will allow fleet operators and transit agencies to assess the vehicles' capabilities firsthand. Although the initial demonstration units will be non-homologated, the certified electric buses will be available for delivery starting in 2028.
The partnership also aims to address the evolving needs of public transit operators, leveraging VinFast’s impressive operational track record from its home market in Vietnam, where approximately 2,000 electric buses are already providing efficient transportation services across major cities.
Paul Gioupis, CEO of Zeem Solutions and a co-founder of NexMove, expressed enthusiasm over the collaboration, emphasizing that VinFast's impressive scale of operations and the quality of its manufacturing processes lay a strong foundation for success in the U.S. market. “This is a proven product with real operating history behind it,” said Gioupis, reinforcing the vehicles' credentials as dependable solutions for urban transit.
Commitment to Sustainable Mobility
Brian Finnerty, CEO of VinFast North America, also highlighted this commitment, stating that their entry into the U.S. bus market is a critical step in advancing sustainable urban transportation. He expressed confidence in the growing demand for environmentally friendly transit options and outlined how this partnership with NexMove helps cities and businesses make meaningful strides towards electrification.
Looking ahead, VinFast is setting the stage for a significant impact on sustainable transportation in the U.S., promoting a wide array of features that focus on efficiency and long-term value. The electric buses are built with fast-charging capabilities, advanced anti-corrosion protection systems, lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, and competitive warranty plans, culminating in a low total cost of ownership for clients.
VinFast’s Expansion and Future Vision
As part of its ambitious growth plan, VinFast is also eyeing expansion into Europe, thus broadening its electric ecosystem. The company is underpinned by Vingroup JSC, one of Vietnam’s largest conglomerates, reflecting its strong financial base and operational expertise.
VinFast’s move into the electric bus sector not only complements its existing all-electric vehicle offerings but enriches its overall green mobility ecosystem, which includes flexible leasing options and an expanding dealership network. As the demand for smarter, cleaner public transportation continues to rise, VinFast is determined to provide adaptable solutions for both individual and business clients in the U.S., aiming to redefine modern mobility in the years to come.
The introduction of VinFast electric buses signifies a significant step toward more sustainable urban environments, presenting exciting opportunities in the realm of public transportation and beyond. With solid expertise, innovative technology, and an extensive operational track record, VinFast is well-positioned to make a meaningful contribution to the future of electric transportation.
