Famitora and Fukuoka City Collaborate to Enhance Aging Literacy for Citizens

Famitora’s Commitment to Elevating Aging Literacy

Famitora, a company specializing in family trust services, under the leadership of CEO Katsuhito Mitsuhashi, has recently made strides in supporting aging literacy among citizens in Fukuoka City. During the Fukuoka 100 Lab's co-creation platform presentation event, attended by Mayor Takashima of Fukuoka City, Famitora shared significant progress on the "Aging Literacy Enhancement Project," which is part of a collaborative initiative involving the Fukuoka City Social Welfare Council and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance.

Aging Literacy Enhancement Project

Understanding the changes that come with aging is crucial for all generations. The Aging Literacy Enhancement Project aims to promote knowledge and information necessary for citizens to thrive during the 100-year life expectancy era. As a first step, the project has been fostering discussions among families and close friends about future plans. To date, seminars and handbooks aimed at enhancing aging literacy have received positive feedback, with participants expressing that these initiatives helped them gain vital insights essential for living authentically until the end of life.

Fukuoka 100 Lab: Co-Creation Platform Presentation Event

The Fukuoka 100 Lab, a platform focused on collaboration and innovation, was renewed on November 25, 2024. Mayor Takashima joined as an active participant, emphasizing the importance of increased participation from private sectors. The event marked a shift toward a more collaborative platform that bridges public and private sectors, amplifying recognition of issues from a private viewpoint. Famitora, as a representative of the Aging Literacy Project, highlighted the project's progress and discussed the need for continuous promotion of aging literacy with fellow panelists.

Famitora’s Tetsushi Masuda articulated the organization’s vision: "Our goal is to create a society where citizens can live authentically as they age. It is vital to work together to address the challenges related to aging faced by Fukuoka’s residents through enhancing aging literacy."

Launch of the Self-Determination Support Working Group

The initiative has further evolved with the establishment of the "Self-Determination Support Working Group," which includes prominent local institutions such as Nishinippon City Bank and Fukuoka Bank. This new group continues the efforts of the Aging Literacy Enhancement Project, striving to strengthen aging literacy within the community. Their objective is to foster a society where individuals can live comfortably while preparing for potential cognitive decline through various awareness activities.

As a proactive response to the challenges posed by an aging society, Famitora remains committed to supporting aging individuals and families, focusing on the mantra of leading a long, smiling life. The company plans to continue its collaborative efforts with municipalities, social welfare councils, and financial institutions to promote sustainable development in this area.

Understanding Family Trusts

Family trusts serve as a mechanism allowing individuals to transfer essential assets to trusted family members before cognitive abilities decline. This system ensures that even in cases of dementia or other diminished capacities, the management of assets can still align with the individual’s desires and their family’s needs.

Famitora's Approach to Family Trusts

Famitora has been pivotal in simplifying the family trust process, which has historically been complicated and cost-prohibitive. By integrating digital technology, Famitora has made these services more accessible and affordable for a broader audience. Furthermore, the company provides ongoing support for family trust management based on contracts formulated by legal professionals, ensuring peace of mind for clients and their families when managing their assets.
