Exploring the Bonds of the Past at the China-U.S. Friendship Event

Experience China: A Symphony of Stories

On August 27 and 29, 2025, a notable event titled "Experience China — A Symphony of Stories on China-U.S. People-to-People Friendship" took place, co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in the United States, the Chinese Consulate General in New York, and the State Council Information Office of China. This gathering showcased the deep-rooted friendship forged between the Chinese and American people during the World Anti-Fascist War.

A Unique Fusion of Art and Narrative

The event featured an innovative blend of symphonic music, immersive storytelling, and graphic exhibitions. Ambassadors, dignitaries, and attendees were present to witness the powerful narratives that recount the shared experiences of sacrifice and unity between the two nations during times of great adversity. Ambassador Xie Feng delivered poignant remarks emphasizing the significance of honoring our shared history, celebrating friendship, and laying the groundwork for future cooperation among younger generations.

Ambassador Feng urged participants to strengthen ties, minimize barriers, and create opportunities for collaborative efforts that could lead to mutual prosperity. His words echoed the sentiments of past camaraderie, highlighting that the core of U.S.-China relations lies within the connections between their people.

Resilience and Reflection

Consul General Chen reinforced these messages by recalling historical truths about how, eighty years ago, China and the United States stood shoulder to shoulder fighting against injustice. He articulated that remembering the past directly contributes to safeguarding the future and reaffirming responsibilities toward lasting peace.

The event facilitated important discussions surrounding the necessity for major countries to reflect on their histories and collaborate toward building a more secure and inclusive global community. It was evident that there is a pressing need for more dialogue and cross-cultural exchanges to foster understanding and mitigate fear.

A Bridge Across Generations

An exhibition titled "Fighting Side by Side: Chinese and American Peoples Against Fascism" was held, drawing in numerous descendants of American and Chinese World War II veterans. The emotional atmosphere resonated through shared musical experiences and storytelling, creating a bridge not only across cultures but also generations. These connections reminded participants of the spirit of cooperation that emerged during the struggles of war and the lasting friendship that has continued to thrive.

Participants included notable figures such as Minister Jing Quan and Jeffrey Greene, Chairman of the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation, among others. The events culminated with attendance from over 400 individuals from various sectors, further demonstrating the shared interest in fostering lasting connections.

Looking Toward the Future

As the event concluded, it was clear that the bonds between the U.S. and China, forged in shared struggles, could evolve into new partnerships that embrace both nations' hopes for the future. This gathering was not just a reflection on history, but a call to action for all attendees to carry forth the message of peace, cooperation, and shared aspirations for a harmonious world.

In this way, the "Experience China" event served as a significant reminder that together, we can create a brighter future, built upon the foundation of our past. By honoring shared histories and fostering ongoing dialogue, the friendship between the U.S. and China can continue to flourish.
