Applications Now Open for Tech Kids Grand Prix 2025, Japan's Largest Programming Contest for Elementary Students

Tech Kids Grand Prix 2025 - Applications Now Open!

Beginning today, July 1, 2025, the application window for the Tech Kids Grand Prix 2025, supported by Cygames, is officially open! Organized jointly by CA Tech Kids, a firm specializing in programming education for children, and TV Asahi, this competition is poised to determine Japan's top elementary school programmer.

The Tech Kids Grand Prix is a prominent platform for all elementary students aspiring to navigate the world of programming and technology. With the motto: "The 21st century is yours to create," the contest evaluates entries on three critical criteria: Vision (the dreams and aspirations of children), Product (creative ideas that translate into tangible creations), and Presentation (the ability to communicate one’s vision and products to society).

This year's event marks the 8th edition and invites entries from July 1 through September 30. After the preliminary rounds, including four stages, the final competition will be held in Shibuya, Tokyo, on February 28, 2026.

A Challenge Open to All Young Innovators

Since its inception in 2018, the Tech Kids Grand Prix has encouraged young minds to explore technology and express their creative thoughts. Last year, the contest witnessed an overwhelming response, with over 10,000 submissions, highlighting its position as one of Japan's largest contests for elementary school students.

Continuing its growth, the 2025 contest has garnered support from numerous government bodies, including the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Digital Agency, along with endorsements from educational committees across 40 prefectures nationwide. This remarkable collaboration between public and private sectors aims to fortify the challenge for children from all regions.

Participants are encouraged to express their creativity without limitations on theme or programming language. They can utilize popular text-based programming languages such as C#, JavaScript, Python, Swift, or visual programming languages like Scratch. To further support applicants, comprehensive resources detailing the project creation process will be made accessible, ensuring that even those new to programming can bring their ideas to life and join the contest confidently.
