Analysis of Waste Management: Pirika's New Initiative in Tokyo
In an innovative effort to tackle urban waste management,
Pirika, a company dedicated to leveraging technology for environmental solutions, has partnered with the
Tokyo Waterfront City Council. The project aims to conduct ongoing surveys of waste distribution in the
Tokyo Waterfront City area, facilitating more effective environmental beautification activities.
The Survey Approach
Pirika is utilizing its proprietary waste distribution survey service named
‘Takanome’. This service functions by equipping vehicles operating within the waterfront area with smartphones, which capture live images of the streets. The collected image data is analyzed using advanced AI technology to visualize the distribution of waste on a detailed map.
The resulting visual data on waste distribution will be provided to various organizations actively working within the waterfront area. These groups can use the insights to better understand the actual waste issues and plan accordingly. Continuous accumulation and sharing of this data will also allow for a cohesive understanding of trends across the area and will serve as a guiding tool for future cleaning initiatives and environmental enhancement projects.
Building on the 'Be Smart Tokyo' Initiative
This project is part of the
‘Be Smart Tokyo’ initiative, which aims to implement smart services across the Tokyo area. Supported by
Digital Garage, which plays a crucial role in the smart service implementation project, this collaboration is set to foster a partnership between local government and innovative companies. Digital Garage is renowned for offering diverse payment platform solutions and promotes a sustainable society through various technologies.
