Jordan's Ministry of Education Partners with Replit to Launch AI Learning Assistant 'Siraj'

Revolutionizing Education: Jordan's 'Siraj'

In a groundbreaking initiative, the Government of Jordan has teamed up with Replit, a leader in agentic software creation, to introduce an innovative learning assistant named 'Siraj'. This move marks a significant step forward in the integration of technology into educational frameworks. As part of the Future Technology Council's initiatives, 'Siraj' embodies the vision of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to leverage artificial intelligence for enhancing education and improving citizens' lives through technology.

The Minister of Education, Dr. Azmi Mahafzah, announced the pilot phase of 'Siraj', which aims to offer both students and educators an interactive, AI-powered learning experience. This assistant can provide accurate, curriculum-based responses, pulling resources directly from official textbooks to guarantee high-quality educational support.

Developed in less than a month by Amer Abulaila, a member of the National Council for Future Technology, 'Siraj' demonstrates remarkable efficiency. “Creating a project of this scale from scratch typically takes months,” said Abulaila. “Using Replit allowed us to prototype and implement the learning assistant in a fraction of the time, effectively transforming our vision into reality.”

During its pilot phase, 'Siraj' has already made significant strides, catering to over 100,000 students and educators with more than 600,000 recorded interactions on the platform. Following the pilot's successful completion, the Ministry plans to scale 'Siraj' nationally, making it accessible to 1.6 million students and 90,000 teachers within Jordan's public schools.

Dr. Mahafzah emphasized that 'Siraj' aims to enhance student performance through self-directed learning and personalized academic support. He stated, “This initiative alleviates the workload for both parents and educators while ensuring that each student has access to precise, interactive, and engaging learning tools.”

The platform boasts an intuitive Arabic interface that requires no technical expertise and operates similarly to a conversational search engine, making advanced AI technology accessible to everyone.

Amjad Masad, CEO of Replit, remarked, “'Siraj' serves as a powerful example of what can be achieved when governments embrace innovation to empower their populations. Built on Replit's agentic software creation platform, 'Siraj' brings cutting-edge AI innovation to Jordan's national educational system, helping students and educators enhance learning outcomes. With Replit, anyone can create and publish applications using natural language, no programming experience needed.”

Through this collaboration, Replit and the Jordanian Government are jointly pushing the country’s vision of a future-ready education, empowering teachers and students with cutting-edge digital skills and establishing a regional benchmark for AI-driven learning.
