America's Favorite Chef® 2026 Launches Nationwide Search for Culinary Talent to Inspire Future Chefs

America's Favorite Chef® 2026 Launches Nationwide Search

The hunt for the most extraordinary culinary talent across the nation has officially begun. America’s Favorite Chef®, an esteemed cooking competition organized by Colossal, is back for 2026, promising a greater platform for chefs and a chance to make meaningful contributions to the culinary community. This year, participants will vie for significant rewards, including $25,000, a feature in Taste of Home magazine, and an exclusive cooking experience with renowned chef Carla Hall on her popular show, Chewed Up.

Designed to celebrate chefs of all backgrounds, America’s Favorite Chef provides a unique space for them to exhibit their craft, creativity, and personal stories. Contestants will advance through a tournament-style format where they can benefit from daily votes cast by their friends, family, and supporters. Voters can contribute donations to help their favorite chefs progress in the competition. Importantly, each donation also supports the broader culinary community, helping raise over $12.9 million for the James Beard Foundation (JBF), which aims to foster and revolutionize the independent restaurant scene.

Erica Helms, Chief Growth Officer for the James Beard Foundation, highlighted the initiative, stating, "Proceeds from America’s Favorite Chef 2026 will bolster JBF's fundamental mission to elevate chefs and the independent restaurant sector while striving for a more equitable and sustainable food future for everyone." The foundation's core projects back initiatives in advocacy, financial literacy, women’s leadership, and much more, ensuring a vibrant future for both chefs and their businesses.

A Notable Addition: JBF Spotlight

A thrilling new feature this year is the James Beard Foundation Spotlight. This initiative will select one remarkable dish from the competition to be showcased at the prestigious JBF’s Annual Gala for Good, offering significant exposure and recognition to the standout participant.

Carla Hall Returns as Ambassador

Bringing her charming presence back to the competition, Carla Hall, celebrated television personality, chef, and cookbook author, returns as the Ambassador for America’s Favorite Chef. Known for her warm-hearted belief that cooking should stem from love, Hall has inspired countless chefs through various culinary platforms, including Bravo's Top Chef and her popular series, The Chew.

"Cooking is about more than just the food; it's about forging connections and intentions that resonate with our communities," remarked Hall. She emphasized the impact the competition has had on many chefs, helping them grow and form associations that realize their culinary aspirations while fortifying the important work of the James Beard Foundation, which serves as a vital support system for the industry.

Industry Support and Recognition

This year's event also benefits from partnerships with reputable names, including John Boos & Co., Shun Cutlery, and King’s Hawaiian. John Boos, a provider of premium cutting boards and workspaces since 1887, and Shun Cutlery, known for authentic Japanese knives, will support participants by ensuring they have the right tools to craft their culinary masterpieces. King’s Hawaiian, with over seven decades of expertise creating authentic Hawaiian foods, is also backing the competition with their signature Aloha Spirit.
