The Free BGM Database is now available to anyone interested in royalty-free music, eliminating the previous registration requirement. This change is predicted to enhance usability significantly, allowing creators from various backgrounds—individual artists, educational institutions, and businesses—to access the rich collection of music at no cost. Registered users will still enjoy additional features such as favorites lists and browsing history, while others can freely explore the core functionalities.

Background: The Transition from Registration to Open Access

Initially, the Free BGM Association operated the database under a registration-only model due to concerns about operational support. However, following a stable operation period of a year and a half, the non-profit organization determined that the benefits of expanding access outweighed the drawbacks. From June 4, 2026, users will no longer be required to log in to search through the approximately 25,000 available royalty-free songs.
