About Hiroshi Nagai


Born in Tokushima City in 1947, Hiroshi Nagai is an illustrator celebrated for his unique and vibrant summer landscapes. His artistic journey was shaped during his stay in the United States, where he drew inspiration from the stunning scenery. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to the fashion and music industries, providing illustrations for magazines, advertisements, and record jackets.

Nagai started his career as a graphic designer before transitioning to illustration in 1976. His tropical and vivid illustrations are best represented in album covers for artists like Eiichi Ohtaki and Southern All Stars. More recently, he has collaborated with stationery brands, apparel lines, and popular music brands, adding depth to his already rich portfolio. In addition to his artistic work, Nagai is also a well-known collector of Black music and actively engages as a DJ.
